All in all we didn't deserve to go to Germany

In reflection, our national side got outplayed twice at home yet again

in wcq, which brings into question the following:

a) iS the manager good enough to lead your national side.........no

B) Did the CSA give them team enough friendlies to come together

as a side...............no

c) did our star player provide the leadership needed.............no

we didn't really start playing till the 8oth minute whe De Vos

headed in the beauty goal. Then disaster the canadain defence messes up allowing a Honduras player to break free and we take him down in the box, YES it was a penalty folks. I have watched the incident on

tape a few times now and our player did just clip him to bring him down, the Mexican offical got it right, if it had the other way

round we would have wanted a penalty. The Mexican did disallow a good Canadian goal, which should be brought to the attention of both

Concacaf and FIFA. But geeeting back we again did not come out ready to play, the first half we spent more time passing the ball back in our own defence half this is not a way to score goals and win matches.

Our setup has now got to be changed from the manager to the players

to the CSA,if that fails to happen expect another dismal performance.

Soccerbitch. Go **** yourself. What game where you watching? We outplayed those Honduran pussies last night. I don't want to read your defeatest, loser posts. Go kill yourself.

What can't you admit the truth....we never played a good game against Honduras, yes it was improved over Guatemala but not by much. Canada

never threatened the Honduras goal till DE vos header 10 minutes

from the end. we totally suck again bringing canadian soccer to an all time low. Now we have 3 meaning less games to go Costa Rica

on wednesday, Now that were out i won't have to stay up till 4am

to watch it. nananana, nananana, wave goodbye germany 2006

you won't be missed, unlike those easy sitters you missed yesterday,

we got 4 years to turn this program around, if not our one world cup appearence will just be that....just one.

No you didn't. At least the twice this morning part. You are a liar son, along with being a pathetic attention seeking troll. Unlike you effect on a lot of the Voyageurs, it seems, you don't get under my skin. I pity you more than anything. Because we both know that you don't like yourself and deep down, you fear, correctly for now at least, that you have nothing worthwhile to offer. But it doesn't have to stay like that: Contact the Brantford office of the Canadian Mental Health Association. They will have some free counselling available and tonnes of information on building your self esteem. Your school guidance counsellor can hook you up as well. Volunteer and give back to the community. Coach some soccer if you like that sport (and there is no evidence that you do), maybe do something nice for someone anonymously, or just buy your grandmother - or some else who loves you despite your antics - a flower for no reason.

It will do you a world of good.

The truth is NOBODY LIKES YOU, cares about anything you have to say,

and suggest you pick your own forum, soccer team, and your own life.

You don't get it, and have the gall to post after a sensitive and controversial

match. Time to forget it, buddy. Whether you're right or wrong, nobody cares anymore.

After a gut wrenching game like that you come on here and say we don't deserve to play in the world cup? This team came back from a bull**** call and scored a goal in the dying minutes, this after a dismal start against Guatemala that could've sunk them, and they don't deserve a shot at Germany? These guys fly here from Europe to play for us, a nation that barely knows they exist, for an organization that barely affords their plane tickets, this team that barely knows each other shows this much heart only to lose to bad officiating, and you still can't get behind them after this. You're not a fan of this team, why post here?

Boy , some of you guys sure get a little hot-headed over one contributor, "Soccerbeast". I don't think I agree in censorship, some of you are pretty rude, and yet I doubt if you wish to be censored. I honestly thought Honduras had the BEST quality scoring chances, but Canada indeed had several , one by Daniel I.which showed why he is a good defender, and not a goal-scoring foreward. Hume should have done better, but the way he is idolised on this forum, you would think he's a soccer superstar, and he and Tranmere are far from superstardom.Peschi's international career was over way back, and I love the guy's effort, but don't forget he refused to travel and play on a number of occasions for Canada ( believe me I know this for a fact), he gave many excuses. he's not the easiest player to get along with.I surely did not understand Peter's sub, what a waste of a sub. It is way too early to call for Yallop's head, the players like him,, and he's been a successful coach. Canada were pretty awful in the first half against Guatamala, but since then , the effort has been there. Our chances for going to Germany were always extremely slim, now they are much slimmer, but we are still there.

How can you say they deserve to be in Germany from what we've seen so far? Your second sentence is seriously flawed. WCQ is not about "recovering from dismal performances". It's about "avoiding dismal performances". Aside from South America qualifying zone, one bad game is often the difference between qualifying and not.

Looking objectively at last night's game, Canada deserved to be losing after 60 minutes. Yes, they got screwed by the ref at the end. But they could've easily lost in the first-half too. Overall Canada probaly deserved to win 2-1, but then they would still have a tonne of work to do before they "deserve" to be in Germany.

It's too early to answer the question do they deserve to goto Germany.

Soccerbeast was just offering his opinion, that Canada didn't play well enough to win.

And you know what, he's right? Canada needs a kick in the butt, and who knows when. I've been watching for long enough to know, that this is the same broken record. They don't play quality football, and won't go anywhere unless they start to.

There is a reason why the Americans leap frogged Canada. In 1986, we were far superiopr than them, and now, they are World Cup quarter-finalists. And they are entertaining.

Us in the otherhand...

As fo rthe penalty, I thinkg that it was NOT a penalty. That being said, with such a poor pass back, that type of thing is bound to happen.

And the goal should have stood. But that doesn't change the fact that we played terribly.

We've got some fine younger player who should be given some

game time now, Jamie Peters,Josh Simpson,Olivier Occean,Ante Jazic

Iain Hume, should all start vs Costa Rica, we have nothing to lose

at this point lets give them experience, cause they will be leading the team four years from now.

You're right, of course. I suppose I was just being hot headed in that post. However it seems to me with the lack of preparation and all things considered this team is starting to show heart. I think the true test of wether they deserve to go to the world cup will be in how they respond to this latest result, will they use this as an excuse to quit or push on to the hex...

Who gives a crap whether a team DESERVES to go to Germany or not. The idea is to qualify. That's all that matters. The teams that make it there, make it there. Those that don't, don't. This talk of entitlement is absolutely useless and pointless. Results matter, and that's all.

Yeah I assume your point was that the scoreline is the bottom line. As for entitlement however I like to think the team that didn't cheat is entitled to the victory, and in that sense deserve it. I'm also guessing your point was that we shouldn't sit around and whine at our crappy results when there's another match to look forward to, so I'll stop at that [B)]

Soju, mi amigo, I should have been clearer, I agree. Yes, the scoreline is the bottom line, and I hate the bs cheating and the officiating that does not call the cheating. My worry about the word "deserving", or any sense of entitlement for that matter, is that it often creates expectations based on values or ideas that have no impact on the soccer field, values and ideas (attitudes, really) that can often make a team perform below its capability because they've got it into their heads that they 'deserve' to win. Same with fans who feel they are entitled to see their team win. It is a great way to set oneself up for disappointment, and as a result, often silly behaviours as a result of disappointment. This is not a grave issue for me, let me tell you. i just hate when people throw the term around so recklessly. No issues with you, Soju.
