my letter to the CSA.

Hi,

This letter is in regards to what appears to be Mr. Pipe's inept running of the national program.

I have yet to come across a Canadian soccer fan who is pleased with how our national squad is run. From lack of home friendlies, lack of friendlies period, to what now sounds like poor travel conditions for our elite athletes, and these are avoiding the obvious complaints such as a lack of a league, a national cup, and lack stadia.

My question is, how long is Mr. Pipe contracted for, and how is a new Chief Operating Officer selected/elected.

I believe this should be something voted upon by referendum.

Thank you.

The directors of the CSA should be sued for failing to properly monitor the CSA and ensure competent management. They have sat back like lame ducks just allowing mediocrity to prevail. What would happen if this was a condo board and they allowed the roof to leak or a corporation to allow for ongoing bad management. Face the reality we are ranked 99th in the world and then management provides economy seats to our players during a crucial wcq game. What would Australia do, they have there athletes flown in to the Australian Institute of Sport to be in an oxygen chamber for 10 days prior to any major competition (not sure for soccer but this is what is done for boxing team) whereas the CSA likes to place hurdles for our athletes just prior to a major World Cup Qualifying campaign. Sorry CIBC, you were duped, The CSA is not prepared to help you in your major investment in soccer.

The whole thing is a farce, unfortunately the public sees Canada as ranked 99th in the world and thinks the players are whiners for complaining about the transportation problems.

I wonder if these provincial assoc. types flew first class?

Beachesl, what happened to you was/is very unfortunate and, I hate to say it, very typical

of how the organization is run. Just as Swangard was ill-organized, the treatment to you

had no class at all.

Your decision to complete your duties is noble and dignified. Hope you eventually get

Andy Sharpe's attention. You sure got ours.

I hope the Voyageurs eventually become a more established supporters group, where we can

influence as a lobby, do effective marketing and fund raising, and get things done

better. I know as a loose group we can do a better job with marketing, web site development,

and public relations. No disrespect intended to anyone, just my opinion.

Who the heck is Soccer Steve anyway?

Hi beachesl:

That's quite a story, very disheartening. I don't know your situation, but it really sounds like you gave from your love of the game and the national team, and your willingness to help out was repaid by being treated without any respect. That sucks.

The anecdotes about 'organized' soccer in Canada just continue to accumulate. Half of me shrugs my shoulders, and the other half is angry that this situation doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

That's horse **** beaches.....the CSA a-holes seem to be getting worse by the day. You'd think that a big "professional" organization like thatw ould treat people well, especially someone who supports the MNT like yourself, represents the MNT's biggest fanbase at press confrences, and volunteers regularly at the provincial level.

you should show them these posts we're sending back too....

When I am treated that rudely at a restaurant or store, I don't accept it, because I know the real reason for the shabby service is the management.

There is no doubt that the management of the organization is responsible in this case too. If the message came from on high that volunteers were to be treated like gold, then they would be. If the Ottawa people treated their volunteers well then the Alberta people would get the message and treat them well too.

This -- especially given that it's not the first, or even an isolated, incident -- is ample evidence of what is wrong with the CSA. Poor organization and poorer management.

I've defended the CSA in the past, such as in the Copa America incident. And I think that there are people in the organization (Morgan Quarry comes to mind) who are above the general CSA types. But the CSA deserves no respect at all.

But all I can say, Dave, is that you're a much bigger and much better person than I am. I would not have handled it with such dignity.

The real tragedy, of course, is that the CSA didn't recognize the value of great volunteers such as yourself.

But there are two sides to every story, lets hear the CSA side of things. I think your taking the job of PA announcer way to serious, we spectators go to any sporting event no one cares about the PA announcers. Just go watch Canada in action, you said you wanted to do that anyways. If you feel the need to write them don't email them, they will just get lost, send a regular letter, registered with canada post to the CSA office in Ottawa, that way you will know if someone got it.Enjoy the match.....:)

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I know what you're talking about here. I suspect it's because you didn't give it enough context. Perhaps instead of quoting six pages of text, you could quote the entire thread next time.

Come to think of it, I might not see your point simply because your response is so intellectually stunning. How you got "you're too egostistical about the PA announcer job" out of Dave's post is a testament to willful stupidity. I suspect that the egotism you detect in Dave's post has more to do with you than with him.

I know I shouldn't respond to this crap but he makes it so hard not to!
