Sportsnet coverage of CR - Canada

I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet. If I'm reading Sportsnet's sched correctly, it looks as though we get the game Sept 8 from Costa Rica on tape delay at 2 AM Eastern (3 AM for us Maritimers). However it looks like if you subscribe to all four Sportsnet regions you can get the game live.

It kind of ticks me off that most of us have to wait through watching a bunch of Americans and Central Americans playing a meaningless baseball game (the Blue Jays are about as Canadian as a Big Mac!) On the other hand, I guess we should be thankful that sportsnet is showing it at all. Assuming that they paid for the rights to show it live, it seems kind of odd that they devalue their property by showing it in the wee hours, thus guaranteeing a poor audience. I guess that will serve the network execs purpose of claiming that Canadian mens soccer loses money when it comes time to decide on future coverage.

The other tough bit is trying to remain ignorant of the score for a full four hours. Do any of you think you can manage it? It might be a bit easier for me cause I'll be on vacation in a little oceanside cottage somewhere on PEI with my girlfriend next week, so no internet access. (Occasional internet interruptions are good for the soul, but I digress...) [:P]

Somebody already had - I've been discussing it in the thread about getting together to watch the games on TV, and I only got the information from somebody else having already posted it somewhere.

You are correct, it does stink! I think we all need to find a sports bar that will show the match live (ie. that has Sportsnet Pacific), which is part of the discussion on the aforemetioned thread).

If you are in winnipeg, the easiest thing to do is to subscribe to MTS TV and choose the sports lovers package which gets all the sportsnet channels including the pacific sportsnet regional channel. So everyone should dump shaw and subscribe to MTS TV which is the greatest product of all time! Does it come across that I work for MTS?

BP on Saint Anne's turned into a wash out. Receiver trouble or some other rubbish. Migrated to the Smitty's Lounge behind Saint Vital Shopping Center. Treated us like royalty as depressing as things went.

Very nice. No big screen, just a bunch of 36" televisions. No music on and they let us turn up the volume as much as we liked.

Most everyone is heading out for the long weekend but I'll check see if any of the lads and lasses want to get together for a lager and a yell.

I of course, am always game. Smitty's would be okay, but I'd rather something a little more central or better still, out in the east end.

(May have been mentioned already but should have heard all the Ooooohhhhs when Serioux took that 1st throw in. Was realy quite funny)

Realy gotta get going.

Hey Soccerbitch, The Yankee/Tampa game is at 7:00 pm EST. The Canada-CR game is at 10:00 pm EST. The Blue Jays game is at 10:00 pm EST. I thought I might interpret the Sportsnet schedule for you, seeing as you don't have the mental capacity to do it yourself.

Okay, be nice. I know soccerbeast is upsetting many people right now but in this case he made an honest mistake. Just like nolando and Krammerhead.

I really shouldn't have called soccerbeast that name, I'm just tired of his spamming on this message board. The only thing worse than having to read his crap, is having to see that same crappy response in 30 threads, as if we didn't read it the first time.

Sportsnet's schedules are pretty confusing, but thats another rant for another day.

You truely are stupid, soccerbitch.

The Tampa/NY game is live at 7:00 pm EST on Wed. Sept. 8.

The Canada-Costa Rica game is live at 10:00 pm EST (8:00 pm local time) on Wed. Sept. 8.

The Blue Jays-Anahiem game is live at 10:00 pm EST on Wed. Sept.8 because the game is in Anahiem.

If you're trying to say that the soccer game is on tape delay because of the Blue Jay game, that is correct. To say that we are getting the Canada-Costa Rica game on tape delay because of a Yankee game is a false statement.

And yes, my ass is Massive.

To try and offer some clarity to the proceedings, there are four Sportsnet Regions (Atlantic, Ontario, West, Pacific). The schedule of each region is a little different. Here is my read on what is happening in each region on Wednesday the 8th (all times in Eastern Time Zone):

Sportsnet East

7 pm to 10 pm - Devil Rays and Yankees

10 to Midnight - Canada vs Costa Rica

Midnight to 1 am - Blue Jays vs Anaheim (tape delayed)

Sportsnet Ontario

7 pm to 10 pm - Miscellaneous stuff

10 pm to 1 am - Blue Jays vs Anaheim

1 am to 2 am - Sportnet News

2 am to 4 am - Canada vs Costa Rica

Sportsnet West

7 pm to 10 pm - Miscellaneous stuff

10 pm to midnight - Canada vs Costa Rica

Midnight to 1 am - Blue Jays vs Anaheim (tape delayed)

Sportsnet Pacific

7 pm to 10 pm - Miscellaneous stuff

10 pm to 1 am - Blue Jays vs Anaheim

1 am to 2 am - Sportnet News

2 am to 4 am - Canada vs Costa Rica

If you want to watch the game live and you have all 4, watch it on West. There is no chance of the prior program running late.

Hope this sufficiently muddies the waters.
