Ashton Gate
13.4 million pounds for Newcastle for Woodgate going to Real Madrid, a massive boost for Newcastle's bottom line or will it cost them a Champions League payout in the long run?? Who's surprised by this deal?
Blue and White Army
I am. He's overrated. I guess the foreign floodgates are open now. Wonder if more players from the First Division or lower Prem clubs will try their luck in Germany.... seems a much closer fit than Spain, anyway. Desigol
I hate Real now after the Vieira fiasco. :X

frostman
I am a little stunned by the Magnitude of Real grabbing Woodgate for so much. He's great, but in the whole world of football, Real targeted him? They could grap almost anyone from anywhere, and many would move for 13.4 million pounds. I like the deal beacause the English National side will get regular practice now from defense to mid to striker. I was always jealous of how half the French team would get regular play-time with each other on Arsenal. And what better place to get experience than on Real Madrid? Loud Mouth Soup
Woodgate was at least third choice after Real had the balls to ask about Sol Campbell (after the Vieira soap opera) and Rio Ferdinand. How Woodgate became even third is beyond me. I read he's averaged 18 games total per year he last 3 seasons. Is that worth 14 million? Nope. DJT
Jaap Stam was transferred for 7 million pounds. Sure, the seller was desperate, but still. I'd like to see Milan's defence go up against Real's offence.
