nolando
Besides D Suazo, who are our biggest worries? And I'm not listening to the ,"we don't need to worry about Suazo" crap that we read so often here about Ruiz. We DO need to worry, and also to have a definitive plan to mark or otherwise shut down the best strikers in the region. Throwing Watson and Pizz in against these guys is complete suicide. David Suazo is a worry for any team. When he first got to Italy they called him the new Ronaldo, at 19 that could have affected him. He is not the next Ronaldo but he can ball and was considerd the fastest man in Serie B last year, where he scored 19 goals (he could have scored more but he doesnt shoot penalties cause of Zola). Having said that, Edgar Alvarez who just joined him at Cagliari from Uruguay is even faster, but he plays right back. He didnt have the best of games against Costa Rica so people are expecting for him to play better against Canada. "Rambo" de Leon is the free kick expert, scored a free kick goal against Costa Rica (unstoppable) and scored 3 freek kick goals in Serie A with Regina. Guevara, is the Captain and the brains of the team, he distributes the ball great and carries the team on his shoulders when needed, he is the 2004 MLS MVP. Saul Martinez is extremely fast and always shows up in the clutch. He was the one who scored both goals for Honduras when Honduras beat Brazil 2-0 in Copa America. Right now Honduras are missing 3 key players: Samuel Caballero (Nacional of Uruguay) who is the clone of Sol Campbell, great central defender who scores headers from corners, he scored 2 goals in Serie A with Udinese before he got hurt, Danny Turcios (Tecos Of Mexico) who plays every position on the field well (i'm not kidding, if he was taller he could probably be goalkeeper) and then there is Honduras best striker Carlos Pavon. These 3 are still in doubt and probably wont play though... Thing to remember is that this team is built on speed and on putting the ball behind the net. Just think, against Costa Rica they played with only one striker !! (David Suazo)..they played a 4-4-1-1. All these guys can score as can be seen by the fact that five different guys scored the 5 goals on wed. Suazo(F)-Rambo(M)-Guevara(M)-Guerrero(D)-Martinez(F)
Lord Bob
Honduras isn't throwing out a terrifying lineup by any other means, but Suazo has to be contained. Hold back Suazo, who is a very dynamic player by all reports, and Honduras takes a significant hit. That's the one good thing about Canada not having a real star at striker: there's no 'one guy' for the opposition to shut down. Of course, they usually end up shutting down all ten of our guys but that's not the point.
MikeD
Here's a link to the FIFAworldcup.com story on the Honduras-Costa Rica match. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/040819/1/20th.html Hopefully Honduras will be overconfident after crushing the Ticos on their home turf and hearing that we lost at home to the Guats. Does anybody know if Honduras has any friendlies scheduled between now and the September 4?

Does anybody know if Honduras has any friendlies scheduled between now and the September 4? Biggest problem for Honduras - overconfidence One day they beat Brazil in South America the next day they barely get by St Vincent. No international friendlies from now to the Canada game, what they usually do is play against domestic teams behind closed doors, without the foreign based players... Massive Attack
Leon may be a free kick specialist for Honduras, but he never really impressed me in his time with Reggina. Also, he only scored 1 goal in Serie A. He scored 2 other goals for Reggina but that was when they were in Serie B (2001/2002).

I agree with M A.I'm a Reggina supporter and seen him play a few times. He barely started on a team that was not very good.I'm not too worried about him. I hope that you keep posting. Don't worry if you are a fan of Honduras. A few of the guys are ultra-nationalistic here, but I thnk they will respect any of your openess, bottom-line. I have a friend here who has lived in Canada since the 70's, but still cheers for Jamaica. I give him a lot of goodnatured grief, but I understand why. He does cheer for Canada when they don't play Jamaica, and that's good.

Massive Attack
Lilloco, I was only basing my analysis on the games I saw on TV. The goal he scored against Costa Rica was amazing. Leon probably had to let Cozza and Nakamura take the free kicks ahead of him. Just in case anyone wanted to see the goals Costa Rica scored that game, I have provided the links: http://www.uncafut.com/videos/gol-51247.wmv http://www.uncafut.com/videos/gol-52195.wmv

Timotas
Oh wow, Honduras' strikers just look deadly. All of those goals were beautiful, even the well-taken penalty kick. If we loose against these guys in Edmonton, there is a great possibility we will be elimanted, so Yallop really needs to get things sorted out, maybe have a friendly or something to bring back some confidence of the boys. Damn, we can't play Watson or Pizzo in the back, we just can't. We'll loose 8-0. Our defenders had troubles with the Guats attacking us; the Hondurans look 10 times deadlier in those clips, faster, technically better, and can finish! RS
There's no way in hell they could have a friendly before the next match. Sept. 4 is only 2 weeks away. Yallop needs to use the loss to GUat as a motivating tool to get the boys fired up. That, and get a new defence corps. Hopefully JDV is able to go by then. Yallop was a defender, he should be able to caoch a team into a good defensive performance.
Lilloco
Here are some updates on the Honduran Team: Dani Turcios from Mexican side Tecos has been called up, apparently he has gotten over his injury and played in the game in which Tecos beat America last weekend in Mexico. "Rambo" de Leon has said that he will probably miss one of the next two games but dosent know which one. Apparently it depends on what his new team (Livorno) says and for which game (Canada or Guatemala) he is needed the most. Also, Sambula (Honduras coach) has called up two new defencemen to the team. Milton Palacios and Javier Martinez. Both of these guys are big guys and have been called up for the Canada game to make sure they take care of the Canadian crosses, which for the coach are very dangerous. Wonder if it's the same facility Canada uses at Ft Lauderdale, Evergreen in suburb of Sunrise? That's where we met in January for the NA based, and where we are supposed to muster prior to the Honduras and Guate away matches.
