soccerbeast
after hearing reports out of the UK that Tomas Radzinski was not really injured, one has to wonder if his heart is in the national team program. He has pulled this disappearing act before, and now the CSA must decide if the player is worth the trouble. I say no, tell him to stay in England , we don't need part time players, lets see some of our younger players given to the chance to shine. Bertuzzi44
[|)] I'd rather have Radz for a few games then none. Sure, the CSA might have to swallow some pride and basically let him tell them when he wants to play or not, but it's true, he's our best weapon, and we need him! even if he only shows up for a few games, because every game is so crucial! Too bad he wasn't more commited though......hey, it could be worse (OH).

beachesl
When players like Vidulka pulled that for an Australian friendly against Venezuela last winter (he even had a doctors note to say he had a calf strain), Soccer Australia insisted they show up anyway to be assessed. Some did. When Vidulka didn't come anyway, they complained to FIFA, and he was banned from pl,aying the next match for Leeds. Vidulka still wanted to play for Australia and did play for Australia after that. Time for the CSA and Yallop to start taking their repsonsibilities to this country sertiously. Bertuzzi44
True, maybe they (csa) are just being too nice. Technically, International play take presidence over club play, am i wrong?
Lord Bob
For England, France, Brazil, and the powers, international play is a high priority. But Canadians have often been met with chilliness from European clubs when they left for the international team. Makes sense from a club perspective: we are sort of a minor power. I do think that keeping Radzinski happy is sort of a must for the CSA, as if we laid the smackdown on him, I get the feeling that his reaction would be something along the lines of 'oh well'. That said, I hope he rediscovers his love of country somewhere in his heart.
redhat
Don't bother questioning Radz's commitment. It was evident last night that we needed him, and I hope he's there for most of the next 5 games and beyond. He was instrumental during the Belize series. Theres no way in hell we're going to qualify for the World Cup, let alone the final round of Qualifying if we play our "young" players and our semi-pro "A-League" players. I know most of you guys love the A-League, but we aren't going to go anywhere with A-League players, plain and simple.
kokanne
Yeah we need Radz, Devos, Brennan, Mckenna pretty badly. Radz to be starting striker and the others to be on the backline. It would be really nice for Hirschfeld right now to get lots of playing time. Then we could go with him for a game.
canadiankick97
Radz will be there in Edmonton for sure, even with a minor injury. He has said this is his last chance to make it to the World Cup and he knows that the early September fixture game can break us.
Loud Mouth Soup
canadiankick97 I'll remember that. If he doesn't show, we know where his heart truly lies. And it's not here in Canada...

Canuck Oranje
Brazil requires any player claiming injury as a reason for declining international duty to be examined by Brazil's national team doctors. In other words, the player usually must still fly to Brazil. Again, travel time is long but the number of time zones from Europe to Brazil is less (only 2 hours in our winter). As a compromise, surely we can contract a doctor somewhere in Europe that we can trust to examine our players in this similar case. This approach might also stop the rumours and speculation. quote:Originally posted by beachesl When players like Vidulka pulled that for an Australian friendly against Venezuela last winter (he even had a doctors note to say he had a calf strain), Soccer Australia insisted they show up anyway to be assessed. Grasshopper
I don't think that you can honestly say 'most of you guy love the A-League'; as an example, I don't think that most of the posters here from Toronto go to the Lynx games. Love requires some sort of commitment. My real point is that tarnishing players as 'A-League' is silly; if they're good enough, they're good enough. I don't think that anybody on the board can criticize what Adrian Serioux did on the pitch on Wednesday and I believe that Frank selected him prior to his transfer to Millwall. As an aside, after a group of about 15 left Centennial Stadium (following a great Lynx effort in OT) to go watch the game, there wasn't a lot to cheer about. The loudest roar we gave in the bar was when our boy Adrian made his appearance. I think the loudest groan was when Occean didn't score on the flub by their keeper. Vancouver Fan
Radzinski started today for Fullham. He should never have lied about having a calf strain. He said that he'd miss some of the qualifyers. He doesn't have to come up with false excuses. highburygooner
yes...the only thing counting in his favour is that this "calf strain - miss the midweek game" does happen to plenty of other players (see david bentley this week)...but you gotta wonder!
