Canadian domestic cup

The voyageurs cup could be like the US Open Cup in the USA. Many American teams participate.

If the CSA could put all clubs from the A-League, the PDL, the PSCL and the CPSL and add some amateur clubs, it will be better than the Voyageurs Cup, because many people could know other canadian clubs.

I think that the CSA could organize it.

What do you think about it?

You'd need prize money, otherwise clubs won't travel.

And the tourny would have to place during the regular season. Given the fixture congestion we're already getting (in the A-League at least) it may just be undoable. Especially with the PDL season being so short. Not much of a tourny.

Man, it would be fun though.

Wild one in Toronto right now.

What about just plain making the Voyageurs Cup an FA type Cup by rolling the current Voyageurs Cup, CPSL Open Canada Cup and Challenge Cup(which is not all that cost-effective because you have to fly 10 teams to one location and the teams are put into 4 groupings anyway) into one National Cup.

The best approach would be to have 4 amateur and 4 professional teams from the following regions:

East = Maitimes OR Maritimes/Quebec

Central = Ontario/Quebec OR Ontario

West = Prairie Provinces + Northern Ontario

Pacific = BC

The pro team would play the amateur team in a regional derby.

After it would be Pacific vs West ; Central vs.East

the winners would play East vs. West

Could be one way to do it.

What does the Voyageurs Cup have to do with any of this? Since you have A-League teams playing against amateur teams, Voyageurs Cup games aren't even part of your setup. Therefore the Voyageurs Cup would continue as is.

what is the point of rehashing this discussion AGAIN? just do a bloody search on this site. it's been disgussed ad nauseum.

yes, it must be regional. yes, the amateur sides must knock each other off (just use the current provincial cup setup as already i know is set-up in bc and manitoba - i'm sure the other provinces have the same-type of a cup) before facing the a-league sides, or at least hold the a-league sides out until maybe the final 4 or maybe final 8 in each province. then have the western winners knock each other off to face the eastern winners. hand out a six-figure monetary prize to the national winner and some sort of runners-up monetary prize for 2 through 4, paid for by sponsors ala the carling cup.

all of this info can be found in very great and specific detail throughout this site.

bettermirror, you are right, this has been rehashed over and over again (never mind on this forum, but on the old forum as well). But there are always new people joining us and obviously not everyone is aware that all of this stuff is already on this forum (to the point that they don't even think of searching for it). What we need is a FAQ (as I've said numerous times).
