Another major sponsor for the CSA

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association will hold a media conference on Monday, August 16th at 1:00 p.m. in the Mohawk room of the Rugby Club House at the Burnaby Lake East Complex to kick off the CONCACAF semi-final World Cup Qualifying game against Guatemala on Wednesday, August 18th at Swangard Stadium.

The CSA will also introduce a major Canadian company as its newest gold level sponsor, joining adidas at the gold sponsorship level. Earlier this year, the CSA announced CIBC as its exclusive diamond level sponsor.

Canadian Men’s World Cup Team Head Coach Frank Yallop and several team members will be present along with representatives of the CSA.

Following the press conference, the Canadian team will hold a meet and greet at 1:30 p.m. and an open practice from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Burnaby Lake East Field. The coach and players will be available before and after the practice.

Just for the sake of scooping:

The sponsor will be TELUS, I have no idea what the financials are, though I guess it's less than the CIBC deal (diamond level above).

TELUS is offering their employees cheap tickets to WCQ games, albeit in the upper seats.

Typo! I have my ticket and well aware the match is on the 18th!

The telus building is that large building behind the north end of the stadium that many people who see photos of the stadium mistake for actually being part of the stadium. A huge Canadian flag hanging on the side of the building would look awesome. Shame that thy won't think to hang one.

TELUS Invests In Canadian Soccer

Vancouver, BC – The Canadian Soccer Association today announced that TELUS has joined the CSA as its exclusive telecommunications sponsor. As a gold level sponsor with a seven-year contract, TELUS will support all 13 Canadian men’s and women’s national teams and all international matches played in Canada.

TELUS’ first major involvement is to present this week’s qualification match of the North, Central American and Caribbean associations for the 2006 FIFA World Cup which will be held in June and July of 2006 in Germany. The first of Canada’s six semi-final qualifying games takes place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 in Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium.
