I'm no Red, but I do believe Owen might go to Madrid. Owen has been off for two years now, he's lost his magic which he once provided for England and Liverpool. It'll be the best for his career if he moves to Madrid, gets a fresh start, and finds his magic again. Kinda weird hearing a Spanish commentator saying Beckham crosses to Owen.

The thing is Morientes played for Madrid yesterday in the Champions League so he's tied to Madrid for the rest of the season, right? Therefore I don't see how Owen fits into that squad.

Ya, it seems funny that Liverpool parked Owen for their Champions league qualifier, and Real played Morientes despite being constantly linked to the Owen deal. I believe Liverpool rates Owen at about 25 million pounds, and Real wants to pay about 10. Without Morientes in the deal, I don't think Real can (or will) make the deal.

I think Liverpool should get rid of him, even though I think he still has a lot to give. Just to bleed out the last couple years and let Rafa have a fresh start. Besides Cisse, and Baros seem great.

I'm not a Red, but I would rather see Liverpool win than Man U or Chelsea. Go Gunners!

I'm no Red, but I don't understand why Madrid is again forsaking defence for attack when they already have Raul and Ronaldo, along with several other attackers who could move up to striker. And it is even stranger now that Morientes (who may be better than Owen) appears to be stayinbg as well. It seems like the Titanic heading into the iceberg field, almost unstoppable. cxan't see Camacho involved with this, it's empire building at the corporate office at Bernebeu.

It may be that Owen needs new pastures, it's not the same Liverpool and he would feel left out if he stayed. But Madrid...somebody's going to become redundant for sure, and it could be him.

Can't hurt Liverpool that much, should help getting things sorted out.

I'm hoping Newcastle (who are unfortunately looking pretty shakey of late) and Spurs, or anyone, get it together to challenge the evil red Trinity of MU, Arse n' all, Liverpool, along with their new satanic brother Chelski.

Skysports was reporting that the deal was all but done, sending him to Real in exchange for £8 million and a player to be named. As much as he's pissed of the Kop faithful with his reluctance to sign a new deal I wonder how the further de-Englishing (Owen and Murphy) is going to sit.

I guess we'll see if Vieira plays Sunday.

Vieira has now openly said that he is staying. They're upping his pay to 100,000 pound a week, guaranteeing that will always be the highest paid player, and throwing an additional 2 years onto his remaining 2 years of his existing contract. I am ecstatic!

Owen's gone.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has conceded defeat in his bid to keep Michael Owen at Anfield.

Owen looks set to sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid after the Reds failed to persuade him to sign a new contract.

Liverpool expect to receive a cash sum plus Madrid's right sided midfielder Antonio Nunez as part of the deal.

"Contracts have not yet been finalised. Michael will have a medical with Madrid before the deal is completed and the same with Nunez. It should be concluded soon," said Benitez.
