Jarrek
Celtic 0 Roma 1 Att: 50,168 (Including Wendy Mesley) Deafening crowd, lot of Celtic supporters, incredible atmosphere. Skydome with grass and a soccer pitch never looked better. If you thought the atmosphere at the Liverpool - Porto game was great, tonight it was at least three times better and louder, with the roof open! The CSA should try holding a game at the dome versus big time opposition... Pics to come ...
Loud Mouth Soup
Thank you to the Celtic supporter who puked on the floor beside me up at the bar at the Texas Armadillo. Truly appreciated, especially when you shoved it under the bar with your foot and ran away...

DJT
Hey, I see Cassano lining up at McDonald's in that pic. What a bum.
RS
Great pics. You must have one hell of a zoom lens on you camera to get such clear shots of the players from the 500 level.
Blue and White Army
It's all very nice and good, but it pales in comparison to the raw atmosphere of a Toronto Lynx match!
Michael Crampton
Jarrek, judging by your pictures my bhoys and I were just a few sections to the left of you down by the rail (section 507). Were you around whent the giant street celebrations started at the northwest corner of the station and then at Front and where the walkbrindge (not Peter; the other one) meet after the match. Celtic may not have scored but we weren't gonna let that stop us from having a party. All around a great day and tons of fun... I got well more than $60 worth from that game though I probably spent closer to $150 when transport, beer, and food is factored in. If you (the editorial you that is) saw the street scenes you'd understand why Celtic is such a special club. Hail, hail the Celts are here! Mike. Vancouver Fan
Celtic really do have an incredible following at least here in North America and back in Glasgow. They've probably played more Champions Series matches than anybody the last 2 years. In Seattle the celebrations after the loss to Chelsea were very evident. They support their club with as much enthusiasm as any team I've seen. bubbles
No offense guys but IMHO and as well as the visiting Celtic supporters we were hosting, the atmosphere was a bit lacking. 50000 almost anywhere else should of sounded far louder, 40000 on a Saturday afternoon in the EPL is ear shattering with a tempo and repetoire from the crowd far superior. The coordination of singing was abysmal and the only respite to ROMA ROMA was CELTIC CELTIC, hardly a classic retort. Roma once taking the lead seemed content to weather the storm and Celtic appeared sloppy when with the ball and too compact in the middle allowing Roma to box in the flanks. At no real time apart from the two missed sitters at the end of either half did Celtic seem to have any real working offense, content to either square the ball or hoof the traditional length of field most of the Celtic attacks broke down at the first move up field. Roma seemed far more skilled in the first touch department as no Celt on the field appeared to be able to dribble a ball nor complete a short pass forward. Neither of these clubs would beat a midpack EPL club based on that performance albeit I realize it was only a friendly. Several visitors from Glasgow commented on how they thought Skydome was a terrific stadium and was by far the best one they had visited in North America for football, being veterans of last years tour as well as every Celtic match on this years tour as well. I still think its a giant cavern but the night of july 31 was by far the best I had seen it in years I will admit that. The layout of pitch seemed quite good for a change. On the bus back to the Celtic club the general consensus was that Celtic will be hard pressed to even challenge Rangers this season let alone think about anything in Europe unless some money is spent following last seasons departures. Do they miss Larsson yet? Most inane statement of fact overheard at the match... a lady in Celtic colours decrying that Roma's numbers 8 and 10 were the most threatening players they had, could that be because they were both playing in the strikers position ?
