Hume played the first 59 in a pre-season friendly for Tranmere, last before the season starts next week in League One England. Rovers drew scoreless with Spain 1st division side Osasuna, and are undefeated in pre-season with some tough matches in there too (also drew Racing Santander).

Just got an invite from a buddy in Liverpool to go see them if I can find a cheap flight (this year will do); he mentioned that they are second best bet for winning the division, folks are keen about the Macateer signing, but I think it is just because Tranmere fans, for some reason, are big betters and skew the realistic chances of the team by putting too much money on them.

Also mentioned that season tickets work out to something like 4 quid a match, good deal.

Pat Onstand plays the first half of the MLS All-star game and gives up two goals in two minutes to Honduran NT captain and MLS points leader Armado Guevara. [:o]

Not as frightening as it sounds tho [:P] The first took a deflection off unmarked Guevara's shot from the top of the 18 yard box and the second was a penalty drawn off a different player. East beats West 3-2.

More Norway. Reda did not dress for Sogndal who lost to Bodo/Glimt 3-1. Queried last week about Reda maybe being injured, since they sold Robbie Russel the American (forget where he went) I am sure they'd play him if he were healthy.

Patrice Bernier saw his first action with Tromso, who drew with Lillestrom. Came on m. 66, when they were down a goal, so that was an attacking option. As Rosenborg drew as well Tromso remains a point back of them.

So Bernier goes up a step, and Reda, if injured, would be a tough person to call up for Canada to bolster the defence. Leaving Menezes, or Serioux?

Kenny played in an Enkoping home draw 1-1 to Vastra Frolunda in Sweden's Superettan (2nd div). The team is definitely doing better, think that is three games without a loss.

Julian de Guzman has 90 minutes in midfield in the last exhibition game for Hannover 96, a 2-0 win over CKSA Sofia yesterday. The game report says he had a brilliant run ending in a foul in the box leading to the 2nd goal, a PK taken by Mathis. Michael Tarnat, signed over the off season, talks about how he likes playing with 'July' on the left side. It looks like Jules is a lock for starting next weekend.

Maycoll Canizales played the first half in a U23 tournament today as an outside back (it seems from the game report) for Hannover's amateur side.

Stephen Ademolu got in 90 minutes as Trelleborg let a two goal lead slip and drew 2-2 in Swedish top flight.

Leader Halmstad beat Aguiar/Sita's Landskrona 0-4 without either, and there was no Bent for the winner either as his deal seems to not have come through.

As updated elsewhere, Stalteri's Bremen lost to Bayern in the League Cup final.

Tam Nsaliwa is dubious for 1.FC Saarbruecken's opener against RW Erfurt this coming Sunday. He is likely facing a one game suspension after a red card for retaliating against an SV Elversberg player for a bad tackle on him; the same player sent a Saarbruecken teammate to hospital earlier in the game played on Saturday.

Trelleborgs draw ended a 7 matches long streak of defeats and they played their best match for months, and this against the top three side Hammarby. Ademolu played as one of two forwards and did it good. Fast and hardworking and made the important interception that led to the 2-0 goal. If he continues to play like this he will be a very valuable player.

"Socci" who is in the know with the Michael Kratky group reports that RW Essen has signed Ryan Thompson. The RW Essen (Bundesliga 2) site says that the 'Scot' Bryan (sic) Thompson has been on trial and impressed but that no contract has been signed as yet. Sounds good for Ryan. Will look for him on Saturday as they open at home against FC Erzebirge Aue.

Tam Nsaliwa got off easy with the DFB and is only suspended for the next three "friendlies" for 1 FC Saarbruecken but can start on Sunday against FC RW Erfurt in their Bundesliga 2 opener. Here's a recent pic of Tam in action against Coventry City (I think), in case Frank Yallop and the CSA forgot all about him. Is this a Portuguese thang??

Maycoll Canizales presumably was in action with the Hannover 96 amateurs today as they earned a place in the final of the NOFV Pokal (regional Cup competition). They open their Oberliga Nord campaign on Sunday vs SV Wilhelmshaven. Here's the team photo, with MC second in on the left, bottom row:

An interview today with the coach of the 1860 Muenchen amateurs says he is very pleased with the new players on the team (Nik Ledgerwood is among them). They open their Regional League South campaign Friday.

Full Canucks in Germany preview out tomorrow as there will be plenty of action this weekend.

Jazic played 90 as Kuban lost 2-1 unluckily in the last minute at home to Spartak. Watched the game on Russian tv. He played as offensive left midfielder behind the striker. Made some nice runs and passing combinations but sometimes lacked the perfect last pass or cross. I think he is better as a defender or defensive mid for this reason but Kuban is offensively weak. They need to start winning some games or will face relegation. Game was pretty evenly balanced with Kuban having the most ball control but Spartak more dangerous on their chances. The winning goal came on a free kick on which the taker placed the ball to the right of the two man wall of which Jazic was a part hitting the post but the ball bounced right to a Spartak player for an easy goal. Kuban's fans were loud and enthusiastic with a lot of flares and smoke bombs. Hopefully they will do better next game.
