FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto Lynx Juniors Boys U17 win Heartland Division with Perfect Record!

Tuesday, July 27, 2004 (TORONTO, ON) - Going a perfect 13 wins with no defeats and no ties, the Toronto Lynx Junior U17 Boys scored 60 goals and gave up only 2. The team will represent the Heartland Division of the Super Y League this November in Orlando, Florida at the National Championships. The "Junior Lynx", as they are known in Ontario are affiliated with the Toronto Lynx of the A-League and are a part of the Toronto Lynx Premier Soccer Academy which provides youth programs for all ages and abilities in addition to the elite youth development programs of which the SYL teams are a part. The U17 Junior Lynx were quarter-finalists at the Dallas Cup earlier in the year and will now be traveling to Long Island to compete in the Score at the Shore. The U17 team is composed entirely of Ontario players many of whom have as their goal pursuing a university education in the United States. Most of the players are fine students having a grade point average of 3.0 or better. The U17 Junior Lynx will be a tough team to defend as league goals came from 14 of the 17 roster players. Tom Croft, the head coach of the U17 Toronto Lynx Juniors enthusiastically states, "We have enjoyed our experience in the Super Y League and look forward to competing for a National Title in Orlando!" Duncan Wilde, the Director of the Academy, is very proud of the performance of all the Toronto Lynx Junior teams this season ( U15, U16, U17, U18/19) and already preparing for the 2005 season with Identification Camps for all age groups taking place at the Downsview Hangar from August 16-20. For more information on the Identification Camp call 905-469-8783 or e-mail at premiersoccer@scdm.ca.

LYNX GET SET FOR HOLIDAY WEEKEND HOME MATCH!

The Toronto Lynx, back from their western trip to Calgary and Edmonton, will be taking on the Virginia Beach Mariners on Holiday Monday August 2nd at 6:00 for their annual Caribe Fest. Soccer fans will be able to catch fine pro soccer action as the Lynx continue to vie for the playoffs. Fans will also be regaled with entertainment by the Caribbean Dance Theatre which will be providing an array of African Caribbean dance styles with great artistic integrity, an event which coincides with Toronto's popular Caribana Festival which will culminate on Monday. Jermain Maxwell from Canadian Idol will also make a guest appearance performing the National Anthems at the game. On the field, striker Ali Gerba has continued his torrid goal scoring pace with 2 goals in Calgary on Sunday night which places him in second place in scoring in the A-League with 12 goals and 26 points in 18 games. Sitting just one goal back of the all-time Lynx record for goals in a single season, Gerba will be aiming to establish a new record in front of the Toronto fans during the Lynx upcoming 3-game home stand. Tickets are still available at only $15/adult and $7.50 for youth and seniors. For more ticket information and special group rates visit www.lynxsoccer.com or call 416-251-4625 ext. 31.

Robin, any chance you could post a roster of the U17 team, or point us in the direction to find it. Could not find any reference to the U17 team on the Lynx website.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately the Lynx Jr U17 roster does not appear to be entered on the USL SYL site. But here is a link to an indoor tournament in Kanata in February that featured the U17 Lynx squad.

The team appears to feature young keeper Nils Binstock. So I guess after his injury he didn't return to Denmark ?

the Fury SYL league teams are doing quite well-- as well. A good base for it's PDL team next year.

the talent in this country is there. just can't leave it up to mom and dad to develop it.

Couldn't agree more.
