Canadienfan
It can be argued that Pat Onstad is the worst keeper to start in a non friendly game for Canada. Sad but true. GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!!!

redhat
But will we win? You can argue all you want, but Yallop likes Pat. And Pat can win.
mattbin
Why is it so much fun, for some kids, to pile it on Pat? It's kinda like the whole Fenwick thing... it makes me wonder what vital, basic fears these guys are exposing... Anyhow, take it up with yer head-shrinker. I'm okay with Pat starting -- if he's good enough for the MLS, he's good enough for me. Even the argument that he was the problem in the last WCQ is pretty easily dismissed; there were no 1-goal losses in that campaign. Or was he at fault for all four goals against T&T? I guess there should just be a board where you express your opinions and the reply buttons are disabled. Seems you're exposing your fear of anyone disagreeing with you or posting a sentiment that you disagree with. Now that’s neurotic. I’d like to close with one of my favorite Zen quotes by a man we all know: "Why should I save the ball when the net will save it for me" - Pat Onstad
Natesta
Seems to me he is better than any other option we have. So, what's the point complaining?
Canadienfan
Who's complaining? Tell me a worse keeper for Canada then! I guess what you guys are really trying to say is to bury my head and without exception accept whoever plays for Canada and to only say positive things about them. Your probaly right though. I guess that it's the only way to get into Heaven or to get a present from Santa.
Natesta
Who's better? Nobody is currently at a higher level than Onstad.

Opinions are flying in every direction--that is what this forum is about. I am not personally sold on Onstad, but I think he's a decent option and I trust Yallop will make the best decision. If you disagree, then fair enough. My only criticism of your post is that it too lazily dumps on Pat without offering other (potentially positive) options. But once again, this is just my opinion. I do not like it when people criticize something and do not offer alternative solutions etc. Who do you feel would be best in nets, if not Pat? What is your recommendation? Excluding Lars, which other Canadian keeper have you actually watched (not read a report on) who actually played against some good competition and some good strikers?
