Former Champ
I think this is a great idea. It makes me more jealous of you Easterners, and makes me wish I had clued in a little earlier, when most of the games were in Edmonton (mid-late '90s). Gudonya! Gian-Luca
Well if it's just senior team appearances I think this is most of them - I think I may be missing one or two in the 1988 - 1993 5 year gap. Last name: Di Rocco Canada vs. Costa Rica , World Cup Qualifying (1985) (this until 2000 all at Varsity) Canada vs. Poland, 1988 Friendly Canada vs. Mexico, 1993 World Cup qualifying Canada vs. Germany, 1994 Friendly Canada vs. Holland, 1994 Friendly Canada vs. Portugal, 1996 Friendly (this was a combo senior/olympic/U20 Canadian team, but I'll count it) Canada vs. Macedonia, 1998 Friendly Canada vs. Guatemala, 1999 Friendly Canada vs. Jamaica, 1999 Friendly Canada vs. T&T, 2000 Friendly Canada vs. Mexico, 2000 World Cup qualifier Canada vs. Haiti, 2002 Gold Cup (in Miami) Canada vs. Ecuador, 2002 Gold Cup (in Miami) Canada vs. Scotland, 2002 Friendly (in Edinburgh) Canada vs. US, 2003 Friendly in Ft. Lauderdale (again, a combo Senior/Olympic/U20 team, but FIFA counted as a senior team match, unfortunately, so I will too). Canada vs. Costa Rica, 2003 Gold Cup (Boston) Canada vs. Cuba, 2003 Gold Cup (Boston) Canada vs. Belize, 2004 World Cup (Kingston) Canada vs. Belize, 2004 World Cup (Kingston) In terms of youth matches I saw Canada's matches at the U17 World Cup at Varsity back in 1987. Only one woman's match to date, 2001 friendly at Varsity, the last to be held there at the original* venue. *I'm going to start saying that until being proven wrong in October. red card
Forum: red card Real: Justin Kurias Toronto, Greece, 1988 Toronto, Poland, 1988 Toronto, Scotland, 1992 Toronto, Hong Kong, 1992 Toronto, Jamaica, 1992 Toronto, Mexico, 1993 Toronto, Germany, 1994 Toronto, Holland, 1994 Toronto, Denmark, 1995 Toronto, Portugal, 1995 Toronto, Turkey, 1995 Toronto, Jamaica, 1995 Toronto, T&T, 1995 Toronto, Costa Rica, 1996 Toronto, Iran, 1997 Toronto, Macedonia, 1998 Toronto, Guatemala, 1999 Toronto, Jamaica, 1999 Toronto, T&T, 2000 The 92 Scotland game was also the day my father died. And I still remember the 93 Mexico qualifying game as it was yesterday - I replay that game over and over in my mind - a sad missed opportunity. Went out a hot chick met during the 94 Holland game. The best games for atmosphere where 88 Poland (the Polska chants still ring in my ear), 93 Mexico (busloads of Mexico fans from Chicago), 95 Turkey, 97 Iran and 99 Jamaica (dazed for hours from all the drugs wafting in the air). Ivan
I sent this to Mimglow by email yesterday, but since eveyone else is posting theirs.................. Handle: Ivan Name: Ivan Severinsky Hamilton, Bermuda, circa 1988 Toronto, Mexico, 1993 Toronto, Macedonia, 1999 Toronto, T & T, 2000 Toronto, Mexico, 2000 Kingston, Belize, 2004 The Hamilton game was an Olympic qualifier I think (going back too far) with the U20s playing an exhibition game against someone as part of a doubleheader. I think this was the team that went to Chile and did well and featured Craig Forrest, but I do not recall Forrest playing in that match. The only player I remember was Peter Sarantopolous, but I could probably remember more if I had time to think .. Billy Dometzedis.... ahh never mind. Also saw Pesch play as a 16 year old in Toronto in the U16 WC vs Italy and the women play the USA in Toronto in 2001.

Yeah, I'd thought of that, but being just a young lad at the time, I can't even tell you who the opposition was. If it were the Whitecaps, it would not have been against other NASL teams, but possibly exhibition games against foreign teams, hence the possibility of "international" confusion on my part. But then, I am thinking that I didn't even attend a Whitecaps game until 1975 as I have no recollection of seeing them play until returning to Vancouver from Kingston in the fall of 1974. Winnipeg Fury
It's nice to see the number of Canadian fans travelling to various parts of this great land, visiting different cities and provinces and meeting Canadian supporters from across Canada. It's a great experience, and certainly accentuates the joy of watching Team Canada play. I would strongly encourage everyone to reach out beyond their provincial borders and visit a different part of Canada to watch the national team. Spend a few days at the location and get to know another part of Canada. It's sure to be a memorable experience.
Former Champ
I just found out I'm the only Voyageur from Alberta going to Burnaby[V] (so far I hope). Winnipeg Fury
Nope, never been done. As far as I'm concerned, Voyageurs is just nother name for Canadian soccer fan. I'm sure there's many more than what's on this board.

nolando
Handle: Nolando "Lonely Cap Club Band" 1997- El Salvador Burnaby Funny- I could have said that I missed going to a lot of games because I was living abroad from 1998-2003, in Ecuador and then later in Japan (I swear I must have been the only guy in Ecuador or Japan rooting for Canada when we played them), but that wouldn't have mattered because the bloody CSA didn't give BC any games anyways during that spell. Sad statement, really.

I was just looking through the list again and Holy crap that's a lot of miles log by some of us. (Uh sorry... kilometers) Even for home games some of the distances would be unfathomable to a European. When I was in Brugges for a UEFA cup game I chatted with a local bartender who was in fact German and I told him my Winnipeg trip saga. His face went blank as he tried to figure out where you would end up if you drove 14 hours from Belgium. "I think you can get to Moscow in 12." We're all nuts, eh? AlanDouglas
There were a couple of games in Victoria that I missed in the 80's, before I had a car.
