DJT
Yes, Daniel made a mistake (probably having too good a time in Europe []). Nikola Budalic was transferred to FC Haugesund, which is where Chris Pozniak and Milan Kojic play, in the Norwegian First Division (second tier). MikeD
Budalic must be buddies with Pozniak, or perhaps Pozniak thinks highly of Budalic and is always talking him up to his managers, because Budalic keeps following Pozniak around from club to club. Hopefully Budalic will get some first team playing time with this new club.
Winnipeg Fury
I'm certain Budalic will get some first team action, as Haugesund are not a large club in Norway and don't have the depth on the bench that other clubs may have (like Moss).
Luis_Rancagua
According to the local press of Haugesunds, there is still no sign of Nik Budalic on the club player list. In fact, Haugesunds loss today 3 - 2 to Start, and Budalic was not in the line-up nor sitting on the bench. I am now wondering if Budalic is really on trial with Haugesunds, and has not yet impressed. http://www.haugesunds-avis.no/apps/pbcs.dll/misc?url=/misc/iframes/hgsd.pbs&kategori=SPORT

Winnipeg Fury
Free kick
question for Impact followers. Was he getting much playing time with the Impact? this year. It seems from a distance that he wasn't and that it was commadore and bailey that were scoring and getting more playing time
Grizzly
They paid $23 719 CDN for him. Almost half of it payable immediately and the rest paid in two subsequent payments.

I think he would have played a lot more if the Impact had less effective strikers . In the two games I saw him play in, he came on at the end (76th minute against Toronto and 86th minute against Richmond) so I really did not get to see enough of him to form any kind of opinion. François
He also missed some action because of an injury. Bud Commodore and Bailey were more effective as Alberto7 just mentionned. All the best to him Norway!

Luis_Rancagua
Radio Haugesunds is now confirming the signing of Nik Budalic. By the way, how long is contra for??? Grizzly
quote:Too bad we are punting a Canuck to keep Bailey, who is from T&T. If he was playing on a Canadian MLS team I might understand this but complaining about a Canadian leaving an A-league team? The Norwegian second division may not be a higher playing level but it is not a lower level either. Budalic will probably get more playing time, a better salary, a longer season and better chances of moving to a higher division club. Plus the Impact get a reasonable transfer fee for someone who is not a starter on their club. I don't see anything negative in the whole deal. I would rather he got this opportunity than the Trinidadian player.
Free kick
quote:Originally posted by Winnipeg Fury Too bad we are punting a Canuck to keep Bailey, who is from T&T. True. and Commadore who is from Ghana. But I don't think that I would want it any other way. Unless we end up in the extreme situation where there are no more Canadians on the club or in the leagues. Playing with the best possible players helps the canucks on the squad improve. Strange in way. I was very impressed with his play at the time he was with the Lynx. Thought for sure, he could start just about any team in the a-league. The lYnx were a much better club when he was around
Luis_Rancagua
I am really happy for Budalic. Probably he will have more playing time. Can someone here please tell me as to how long is Budalic's contract with Haugesunds???

Luis_Rancagua
More news on Budalic's signing with FC Haugesund: Kjøpte spiss usett http://haimg.no.publicus.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde? Dandal
I don't know if you've managed to decipher this, but Budalic's finishing statement says "In Canada we only get paid six months. So just that is a great improvment. Furthermore I understand that the level of the game here in Norway is higher and it attracts more attention." The first sentence surprises me a bit, but makes it easier to understand why A-league players move to second flight scandinavian clubs.
Ivan
This is how I deciphered it. "In Canada I was 5th choice striker on the best club in the A-League and only averaging about 6 minutes playing time per game. Furthermore, I can play a lot more here since the quality of play is so much lower, and, I can make more money." I understand that players want to be seen in Scandanavia, as it appears to have worked for Bernier. Hope it works for Budalic as well.
