Mimglow
The crest is the one that was the precursor to our current logo. I think the shirt is from the 70's.

beachesl
We did have a women's team in the 70's...it is because we lost so much that our FIFA ranking, that goes all the wat back to then for results, is so low. So, it could have been from a woman's team. The info on the ebay details says it was 1970's and obtained from a Northern Ireland International. It wouldn't have been a swap from a MNT match with Northern Ireland, unless it was a youth team, because rsssf says we first played Northern Ireland in 1995 in Edmonton. A quick scan of rsssf shows that N. Ireland had a woman's team by at least 1979 (when they competed in a European Woman's Championship tournament), but I can't find listings of the Canada's WNT before 1982 on any sites. Alberto7
Hi, There is a picture in Colin Jose's book KEEPING SCORE: THE ENCYCLOPEDEA OF CANADIAN SOCCER of the 1978 World Cup qualifying team (on page 72) and they appear to be wearing what looks like this jersey. Hope that helps.

DJT
quote:Originally posted by sstackho 108,000 for the Surinam match?? Holy crap! I think there's an explanation for that. There was a triple-header at Azteca that day, one of the matches featuring Mexico. Surely they just counted the attendance once and applied it to all three matches. DJT
quote:Originally posted by Joe Concacaf I'm quite sure we've played games at Azteca with higher attendances than that.Yes, but the issue here is that this game was against Surinam, not Mexico, at Azteca and you wouldn't expect 108,000 Mexicans going to see Canada vs. Surinam. And I don't think it's a typo. Like I said before, Mexico played at Azteca that day as well. They surely just counted the attendance once for the whole day. Look at the attendance for Canada vs. Guatemala on October 16, also at Azteca: only 25,000 (although that's really good in a neutral country). Mexico did not play that day.
