The Beaver
I want to qualify this note by saying I am not taking Belize for granted one bit. We must play hard and smart to beat Belize. And right now, all my energies are concentrated on those two games. Yet, I am very interested to see who will be able to make it out to Edmonton during the Labour Day long weekend IF we advance. I will be there with at least my good buddy, maybe even my wife and brothers etc. Who will make the trip to Edmontonchuck?

redhat
It's likely. May even bring some friends from Calgary to drive up.
bungey
I'm here already, and will be bringing out as many as I can.
CanadasBest
I'm putting together a mini-van out of Vancouver/Victoria. So far have 3 interested including myself. Total gas + rental looking to be about $500 round trip. Hoping to get 6 people, would make it like $85-$100 or so.
MikeD
I'm going to travel to at least one of our 3 semi-final home matches and I'm strongly considering the Edmonton one because it falls on a long weekend. However, I'm going to hold off until I see where the other 2 matches will take place in case one is closer to Ottawa than Edmonton.
matthew
If we can beat Belize and do play in Edmonton in Sept I'll be there. I suspect I'll be at the August game as well unless it's somewhere really pricey (the east coast comes to mind). I think there will be three of us for the long weekend. Someone mentioned away games, is anyone seriously thinking about going? I'm not going to CA for a WCQ (if we were on the verge of clincing in San Pedro Sula in the hex, then that would be different). cheers, matthew
Stu
Was thinking of renting a mini-van myself and bringing a bunch of the Calgary based Voyageurs up too:)

Winnipeg Fury
Myself and the family (and probably some friends) will be attending at least one semi-final match, but I'm waiting to hear the dates and locations. Will all three home matches be in Edmonton ?

Will all three home matches be in Edmonton ? Only September 4 (prospectively against Honduras) has been "scheduled". This was done due to the requirements of the City of Edmonton to book ahead and make arrangements such as parking notices required by the by-laws (there are complicated neighbourhood restrictions in the neighbourhoods around Commonwealth, where I live), as well as coordinating with the Eskimos and other events (this was generally stated by the CSA for the reason why they had to make arrangements and announcement before the Belize game). Although it is possible that the other two semi matches could be scheduled for Commonwealth, it is unlikely, IMHO. Given the "Saprissa" decision at the end of May(FIFA not allowing Costa Rica to hold WCQ matches in their biggest stadium because of "approved" artificial pitch), my rough guess is that Pipe will abandon the stated plan to nominate Montreal and Ottawa as the other two sites. My guess is that the August 18 (Guatemala?) and October 13 (Costa Rica?) will be held elswhere, say one in Kingston (the biggest grass stadia in eastern Canada now) and the other in Vancouver at Swangard. Another alternative could be Victoria, but I think the stadia there are pretty small (what is the attendence there?). Quare:1. Would Kingston be given another game after two matches shortly before? 2. Would St. John's Newfieland still be acceptable for the Guatemala match given the small stadia, or would it make sense to keep all three matches as close as possible to the left coast base? I expect that IF we make the hex, we could see at least 3 of the 5 matches next year in Edmonton.

Cheeta
quote:Originally posted by Marc Three of us are willing to go to Winnipeg. Lets get a game in Winni. Would have said earlier last year it was likely but now I dought it. WSC isn't playable again this season. Pan-Am's field is too small, and see Beachesl's post above for the arguments (political or otherwise) against Astroturf Plus. So no Winnipeg Stadium either. Hope I'm wrong as it isn't likely I'll be travelling anywhere this year. Not counting anything completely out yet though. Very keen to see a match at Commonwealth. I can't see Kingston getting more games, but I could be wrong. While I'm sure the CSA would love to have a match at Swangard, the capacity is too small. Unless the CSA can get the artificial surfaces approved, I wouldn't be surprised if all the matches were in Edmonton. Belize is a small draw, but the semi's should all draw 20,000+ and only Commonwealth can accomodate those numbers.

beachesl
quote:Originally posted by Mimglow What about Claude Robillard? Well, having over 8,000 attendance, it compares favourably with Swangard, ....however, I was under the impression that this home of the Impact has "xlturf", so would be in the same boat as Lansdowne and Molson. Plaease correct me if I'm wrong.
Mimglow
As far as I know it's real grass. If it isn't, then it sure looked like real grass when I went to see them play last summer.
