Reports on the MNT's Training Sessions

I am planning to go to tommorow's practice and maybe one on Wednesday probably the late one if the location is announced. Am I right to assume that they are training at Keith Harris Stadium? I know Carleton also has indoor facilities and considering that we trained in a public park in BC one never knows. Here is a campus map if anyone needs directions: http://www.carleton.ca/cu/campus/

I will have a Canada scarf (from the World Hockey Championships though not soccer), a Canada flag and will wear my Shinnik jersey which is black and blue and similar to InterMilan so hopefully a few of us who have never met before can meet tommorrow. Here is the schedule again:

OTTAWA

Tuesday, June 8

4:00 p.m. @ Carleton University

Wednesday, June 9

10:00 a.m. @ Carleton University

4:00 p.m. @ Location TBD

Thursday, June 10

10:00 a.m. @ Carleton University

It is a small town of 5,000 about 1 hour southwest of Ottawa... between Ottawa and Kingston.

You meant to say 20 minutes east of Arden.

Well, it's been over three and a half hours since the practice was supposed to start, and no word from any of our intrepid Voyageurs brethren who were planning on attending. Wonder whether they ended up hitting some of the bars over in Hull with some of the players afterward...

Alright, here it is...

It was f*cking fantastic.

The players arrived in their coach bus at 4:00, bang on time. The stands in which we were sitting were blocked from view from the players getting off the bus, so when they rounded the corner we started clapping and cheering.

The reaction?

Stunned. It was beautiful. They didn't know how to react, so they just sort of sheepishly kept walking, except for Jim Brennan who waved and said hello, and Bircham who let out "alright lads, whoooo!". Hahahaha...

We will never get access to pro athletes as we did today. Unbelievable. We all got up and stood at the fence separating the pitch from the stands, and were literally a few feet from the players. I took about 40 pics, which I will post tomorrow.

Notes:

Hume limped off the pitch mid-practice. Looks like a knee problem. After he limped off in the San Jose match and now today, I don't see him starting on Sunday.

When Pesch came over to the bench after the practice, he called the trainer over and told him he had jammed something. He had it on ice as he left.

Questions? I'll answer what you shoot my way...

Hey, sounds like a great time. Wish I could make it for the games but sadly I couldn't get time off work (as usual).

questions:

How bad did Pesch look, and what type of injury. With Occean in Norway, Hume hurt, and DeRo possibly dropped to left midfield, we are suddenly looking a bit short on strikers.

Who lined up on the left side of midfield, Brenan or DeRo?

Where was Stalteri playing?

Any clue as to who the back four will be? Was Watson with the team?

Thanks.

Alright Dave, here goes:

- Pesch looked to have jammed his ankle, and he seemed pissed off, but not too injured.

- Couldn't tell ya, they had a drill-type scrimmage where everybody was playing everywhere, it was very fast paced, and they could only one-time the ball into the 4 foot wide net (cones)

- Stalteri played, and looked his Diesel best. I've never seen calves look so muscular.

- Again, couldn't tell you about the back four, just not the drills they ran today. Yes, Watson was with the team and looked decent.

Anyone else there who was not in Wales or San Jose? Bernier? Poz? .......and my dark horse ...... DeTullio?

Thanks in advance.

No. The fringiest member of the squad, in my opinion, were Mike Klukowski and Ante Jazic (Jazic appeared to be having the time of his life, really enjoying his time out there and his teammates)
