Blackpool45
Hello, I am a fan of Blackpool FC from England. I don't know if you are aware but he has applied for managerial position at our club had had an interview at the weekend (after your game with Wales I believe). What is he like as a manager and what will he bring to the club? Rumours are that he wants to reutn to the day-to-day running of club management. If you want to tell the Blackpool fans what he is like, then our website is at the link below. Thanks, and good luck copy and paste it). http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=912&p=16&forumid=4352
Guest Dave
I'm seriously hoping this is a hoax, but my calendar doesn't say April 1. If true, this is a very very bad thing for Canada. What does it say to the players about committment and dedication to one's country over club and career? I will wait for confirmation before commenting further, as this would change the entire equation with Frank.
Guest Can. in UK
I feel nauseous. It's like I've just heard that my girlfriend may have cheated on me. Say it ain't so, Frank.
Luis_Rancagua
I don't blame him. Why work for the CSA??? No pro-league in this country, no future in this country under a soccer persay, Sharpe and Pipe are a bunch of morons who don't know how to run a soccer federation, toying with this dumb idea of placing one team in MLS... Hey, I can go on and on. At least New Zealand drafted a pro-league plan, and today they have re-organized their league. Australia is doing the same thing. Why can the CSA do the same, and work with the provincial leagues. Hey Yallop, get out while you can. Save yourself from pain and misery. The CSA is totally at fault here. But why take the job in the first place? These aren't new issues, Frank knew all this going in. I can't see this being true. Frank's 100% focus should be on WCQ. Cheeta
Realy? I don't have a problem with this, if it is true. So long as any club side undersides that Frankie has dual commitments to Canada's national side as well. Could be a bit dodgy juggling responsabilities, especially during in-season friendlys though. Never thought of Canada manager being seen as a full time job by anyone, anyway. As Luis wrote. Certainly not by the CSA. No domestic league of quality (you know what I mean), no youth academy. No national training center. May as well spend your time in Europe and let someone else pay to house you overseas. At least then you'll be closer to almost ALL of our squad and can jump about and have a look-see now and again. On the cheap of course. And as for Frankie. Can't realy say a lot. Seems to subscribe to the buddy-coach system. Dose seem to believe football is a game to be played at a certain pace irregardless of individual skills. Would rather (I think) big, hard men at the back than roaming offensively aggresive lads but isn't writing anything in stone either. He's an attacking coach, it's just that strikers strike and defenders defend. That's about it, generaly. I guess...
Canuck Oranje
Assuming this rumour is true.... Personally, I find it hard to believe that Blackpool would pay any more than the CSA. Second, given the process Yallop went through and the number of names who applied (at least we are told that), it only suggests to me that the MNT job was not as it was advertised. But I have no info to back that suggestion up. It is a bit of a shock after one legitimate friendly in which the result was not disasterous. More questions???? JayWay
Can someone e-mail Neil Davidson and get him to check up on this? I don't believe it. Canada is most defintely a full time job. Just imagine the potential schedule conflicts alone. There's absolutely no way he'd have time for both. It's BS. Plain and simple.
Gian-Luca
I highly doubt Blackpool would want a part-time manager for their club. Especially with another 9 or 10 candidates (judging by the Blackpool boards) who won't have to share his time. It could be that he went to talk to somebody at Blackpool about something (but not necessarily to apply for their coaching job, maybe he's got an old friend that he want to catch up with) & people are putting 2 & 3 together and getting 1. Considering what he gave up in San Jose to come to Canada and that he's just started with us, it just doesn't make sense.
Free kick
The first thing that crossed my mind when I read this rumour was: Is this the best he can do:(? If it were true, Then i would have never imagined that the prestige level of our MNT would have dropped to the point where the coach would leave for a job at a club outside the top division. Heck why not stay at San Jose then?... Blackpool is in Div two!!!! How many National team magangers leave a job to take on a Div 2 job????
Guest Dave
For some reason I had been under the impression Blackpool was a Div 1 side. Now that I see they are midtable Div 2, I seriously doubt Frank would even consider it. Heck, San Jose would likely be a far better club than Blackpool. Also, the Blackpool message board looks like just idle rumours to me, nothing of any substance. Until I get anything substantial I think I'll take Frank at his word and assume he is committed to Canada.
