Guest Ed
Paul Stalteri and Werder Bremen win the double in Germany as they beat Alemannia Aachen 3-2 in the DFB Pokal final (FA Cup) in front of over 70,000 fans in Berlin's Olympic Stadium. Congrats to Paul on a great season in Germany.
Guest Jeffery S.
Felix Brilliant was a surprise half time sub for the Revolution, who missed a penalty kick in a loss to DC United, 0-1. Sounds like a feisty young player who is getting some MLS playing time, good to see.
marcl_19
so does he figure into the MNT plans at all?? has he capped for any of the youth teams?
matthew
I was mainly watching the Stanley Cup, but I saw about 10 mins of the second half of the Revs/DCU match. Brillant didn't get too involved really. The Revs don't knock it around much. It seemed like if they would switch it he'd have a lot of room, but they'd just go forward down the left and lose it or get it deep and cross it to no one. One of the few times they attacked down the right, Brillant beat Gros and won a free kick just outside the area (on the side). I also noticed that it looked like he wasn't coming back for the ball, but it could have been that the passes were just woefully underhit. Once the DC defender stepped in front of him as he was waiting for the ball to arrive and the other time he got a touch before he lost it. cheers, matthew
Gian-Luca
I'm sure we will see him for the "B" team friendlies in Vancouver.
Ivan
Kojic scored for Haugesand today in a 3-2 win.
Dandal
Enköpings SK lost today 1-0 away against Assyriska, the goal alreday in the 4th minute after a defensive error left two attackers alone in front of Kenny Stamatopoulos.
Guest Jeffery S.
Updating on Norway, Reda still did not dress for Sogndal who drew Rosenborg 3-3, while Occean's team Odd did not play. 1st division Haugesund beat Raufoss with Kojic, as mentioned scoring their second in a 3-2 win. Can't find a report but we can assume Pozniak played. Moss lost to Start 0-1 with Rob Friend on from m. 58 and Patrice Bernier not playing. Guest Ed
Jonathan de Guzman had a big weekend as his Feyenoord U19s came in 2nd in a prestigious 'Eurovoetbal' tournament in Groningen. Feyenoord were in a group with Groningen (opening 1-0 loss), Parma (2-0 win), Boca Juniors (1-0 loss), Glascow Rangers (2-1 win) and FC Twente (2-1 win). They finished 2nd in their group behind Boca Juniors and defeated the top team from the other group, Chivas Guadajara 3-0 early Monday. Then lost again 1-0 to a strong Boca Juniors team. Jonathan de Guzman, born in 1987, did well against much older players (Boca Juniors were all 84s and 85s).
Gian-Luca
Re: Brillant, for what it's worth most Rev fans on bigsoccer are calling for more playing time for him. They aren't necessarily saying that Brillant is Brilliant, but they think he's better than what they've currently been using, looks promising, and is the only player on the whole team who is not as slow as molasses. Ivan
From Jeffery's post: Frustrating that Moss would not release Bernier for the Wales game, as reported by the CSA, then he does not play the Norwegian League game? Further to Ed's post: Nice to hear Yallop has been scouting Jonathan for full National Team duty as reported in another thread. By that we can assume they (CSA) have been in contact with him. Ed, any word whether Ramalho played for Groningen? On Brillant, the two games I have watched he has looked fast and skillful, although he looked better in the first game than the second. Agree he should be considered for the 'B' friendly vs. Hearts.

Ivan
It was reported when the roster was announced that Bernier was called, but his club did not release him for the friendlies. We speculate, on the board he will be one of the 2 or so players added by Yallop for the WC qualifiers, along with Stalteri of course. In fact, perhaps he did not play because he was allowed to accompany Canada to San Jose?
Guest Jeffery S.
Olivier Occean went back to Norway for a lively match tonight vs. Molde, ended 1-1. Otto started and in the game report, which I don't understand a word of (no, actually, I think frispark is a corner) Occean's name is all over the place seems he was very active. Subbed out m. 87. But the real deal is that in m. 61, with Odd down 0-1, the Odd keeper fouled an opponent outside the box and was rightly red-carded. And since the team did not have a sub keeper on the bench a defender, Ronny Deila, put on the gloves and held his own in the subsequent free kick and the remaining half hour. Odd scored to tie it m. 66, and they remain 2nd in the league with 16 points on 9 games, three back of leader Tromso.
