No third place game in Euro Championships, so:

1. france ( back to normal, too strong)

2. italy (please, no shootouts)

semifinalists

3/4. holland (beaten by france by shootouts)

3/4. portugal (beaten by italia after overtime)

quarterfinalists:

-england (beaten by portugal in normal time after Beckham sent off)

-spain (ain't got the cajones, beaten by France-Henry scores winner)

-czech republic (beaten by italia in normal time, Totti scoreswinner)

-sweden (beaten by holland in high-scoring match)

I agree that Henry will be top scorer.

The real question is can Holland come out of Group D. If they get rolling that could be something. Same applies to Italy. Those Blues have tough enough competition but should be able to fine tune the squad and still finish top of group in peak performance.

Portugal on home territory? Get to battle Spain early on. A mass in motion will stay in motion until acted upon by another force. Cho-Cho!!!!!!

Hmmm. Definately not Latvia. Nope, not going to be Greece.

Don't think France or Germany have it in them, so reserving the right to change my crap preditions until the kickoff for the final;

1st Italy

2nd Portugal

3rd Holland

(Darkhorse to screw me up, England. Sub. for any of the above positions IF the get a favorable draw for the semi. Which won't happen.)

I think Spain will finally show well for a simple reason: Real Madrid was so terrible at the end of the season that their half dozen players on the nats will want to make up for it. Indeed having neither Madrid nor Barcelona winning the league is good for the Spain nats.

I think France will take it in spite of being so dependant on Zidane. But their advantage is that the defense is so strong they don't even have to worry about certain weakness in goal.

Going to be one of the most even EuroCups ever, since even teams like Greece are solid sides with a real chance at results.

I'm going to assume that you are referring to Barthez. However, my understanding is that Grégory Coupet (Lyon) is France's number one going into Euro 04 based on his play against Brazil in the friendly.

Barthez wasn't at the Brazil friendly because he played in (half of) the UEFA Cup the day before. Coupet might be more reliable but Barthez is still Santini's No.1 keeper.

France's defense isn't as strong as it once was. It will be interesting to see the next generation introduced into the line-up.

The French like Coupet and I imagine he's good, was fine vs. Brazil. But he lacks international experience. The deal with Zidane is that he began to really fall off after an hour in Madrid games, starting a few months ago. He has lost stamina and can't handle so much alone. He even admitted he was in his worst form playing and training the worst in years. But he's still a lovely player.

Well, good luck to England for your sake. I am sure the mainstream media will be posting enough 'wonderboy' stories to keep a few people on this site apopletic. Let's just say my favourite in UEFA is a continental team but my main interest lies with Canada. Sorry to say I don't have much faith in either of your predictions Sean.

Thought I'd do some time travel to review some embarassing predictions.[:I]

Nobody even mentioned Greece as a darkhorse[B)], altho' jeffrey gets a prize for saying "even Greece" gets a chance because things are so even this year. At least I got Germany not making the knockouts and Spain going out early, and guessed 2 of the four semifinalists.
