A snippet from an article from scotsman.com, posted in its entirety in this thread:

HEARTS are to kick-off their preparations for the new season with a summer tour to Canada, it was confirmed today.

Craig Levein will take his UEFA Cup hopefuls to Vancouver in July following an invite from the British Columbia Soccer Association.

The Gorgie outfit are pencilled in to play three matches during their stay, two against FA Cup finalists Millwall with a local All-Star Select also providing opposition.

There is also a possibility that Hearts will take on a Canada ‘B’ side, with the Maple Leafs’ North American-based players scheduled to be at a training camp, although that fixture is yet to be confirmed by organisers.

The Jambos are due to jet out of the Capital on Friday, July 9 for the ten-day stay which will see Tynecastle defender Kevin McKenna return to his homeland.

According to the Vancouver Province it will be Canada v Hearts on Monday the 12th,Canada v Millwall on Wednesday July 14th and Millwall v Hearts on Saturday the 17th.Weekday games will kickoff at 7:30pm and the Saturday game at 2:30pm.All games will be at Swangard Stadium. It is being called the "International Pacific Soccer Series."There is no mention of Canada fielding a "B" team although it will probably be a team comprised of the best available players who will not be involved in European club training camps.

There are 2 other games scheduled.July 11th at Coquitlam Town Centre will feature Millwall v Vancouver Metro league All Stars and July 14th Hearts v PCL All Stars at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.

Could be a good time to try out some 'B' players if we have to qualify this fall for the 2005 Gold Cup. Unfortunately, players like Bernier, Friend, Reda and Stamatopolous may not be available. But what about Dodds, Kappos, Brilliant in addition to the A-Leaguers.

Maybe we could try a list of Canadian players that will be on holiday from leagues but could be in Vancouver, who would likely go along with some Whitecaps.

I can think of former youth players like keepers Srdjan Djekanovic and Daniel Fernandes, both Vancouverites and probably home. There is Alex Chursky, and possibly we could fly up Josh Simpson. But don't know the budget, would the CSA fly in some Mustang and Aviator players as well? Or look even further?

Who else might be around and available?
