Gian-Luca
No Hartson or Bellamy, but most of their top names seem to be there. With 30 names called it's possible that some of the bigger names there will just play against Norway, who would be seen as the better competition than Canada. Peschfan
Hartson and Bellamy are injured or they would be there too. I like Hughes' approach to call up alot of players. this keeps everyone happy, lets them know there place in the team, while keeping them involved and building a rapore with the other players. Not many coaches call up 30 for a friendly. Canada usually only calls 18. while other countries are usually from 20-23. Not all the players will play obviously but at least it keeps them from feeling they are forgotten out in the wilderness. Wales like Canada know they have to use all the resources available to them. Thats why they cap everyone eligible. They even capped a conference player earlier in the season then he got a transfer to Cardiff I believe. the point is he keeps the doors open for everyone and doesnt write anybody off. Seems like Yallop is taking this approach as well, which is good to see unlike his predecessor.

At the same time, it sets up a situation like we had with Marc Bircham at the Conded (an extreme example I realize). A player is called and takes time off of vacation in anticiapation of playing significant minutes. When he's left on the bench he gets all bent out of shape.
