amacpher
quote:Originally posted by Massive Attack Come on amacpher, be fair, I've seen much worse games in Serie A. The game was pretty boring and anti-clamatic. Milan should thank Serie A referees for their title (this statement is based on the entire season). The handball in the box by Shevchenko was right in front of the ref, there is no way the ref misses seeing that. If the penalty is called and Roma scores, I bet the game would have been more compelling. True. But it was typical how both teams waited for the other team to screw-up rather than trying to win! Milan eventually did screw-up but the referee just screwed-up even more by pretending not to see the obvious hand ball (and then still awarding the corner-kick). Also, the free-kick shouldn't have even been awarded in the first-place as Totti clearly was not touched during that run! After that, the screw-ups by the players, ref and fans all seemed to cancel each other out and thankfully the season is over! [V]
DJT
Hmm, I didn't really find the game to be that boring. quote:Originally posted by Massive Attack Milan should thank Serie A referees for their title (this statement is based on the entire season). The handball in the box by Shevchenko was right in front of the ref, there is no way the ref misses seeing that. No kidding. I'm sick and tired of Milan getting all the calls going their way (not that I'm surprised, it's always them and/or Juve). Especially when Lazio has been in the exact opposite situation this year. I mean, recall the handball called against Lazio in the Rome derby (replay): that was so cheap compared to Shevchenko's. And the Roma fans. Despite the fact that they have screwed up twice in two high-profile matches in the last couple of months, arguably worse than Lazio fans ever have, it will continue to be Lazio that is hated. quote:Originally posted by amacpher After that, the screw-ups by the players, ref and fans all seemed to cancel each other out and thankfully the season is over! What? The season is over? That match just wrapped up what has been apparent for the last few months. The real races are still on! Fourth Champions League spot (with Inter vs. Parma on Sunday, plus I think a playoff is quite possible) and relegation. What I'm glad about is that Milan have nothing left to play for, so maybe now British Eurosport won't select their matches every weekend. Let's see Inter vs. Parma and Siena vs. Modena this weekend (the best choices from a match-significance point of view, though of course I'd prefer Brescia vs. Lazio). Gloucester in FLA
Agreed, Forza Reggina! I prefer the excitement and agonizing struggleof my bottom-half team to the battle of the thickest wallets up north. It goes without saying that it is a foregone conclusion as to who can potentially win the Scudetto. There is a pool of just a few teams with a legitimate shot. The trials and tribulations of low-budget southern teams is much more exciting than the race for #1 and the subsequent CL and UEFA spots.
amacpher
Perhaps I was a little harsh when I implyed that it might have been the most boring game ever. But when you factor in the teams involved (#1 v #2), it was very disappointing. Can you imagine Man United x Arsenal playing in late-season and looking like they were hardly trying to win. Or what about Bayern x Bremen this weekend? I wouldn't bet on a yawner there either! BTW, it'll be Inter x Parma and Reggina x Milan on TV this weeekend. In other words, their schedule hasn't changed. All Milan-TV lives on!
