Young Nik Ledgerwood gets a last minute appearance with the 1860 Muenchen amateur/reserve side today as they beat SC 04 Schwabach 2-1 today in Oberliga Bayern league play. Nik will likely suit up again Sunday as the U19s take on 1. FC Nurnberg at home in the Junioren Bundesliga South/Southwest.

Tomorrow another big match for Hannover 96 as they host VfB Stuttgart with Julian de Guzman expected to start after his solid performance last week starting for the first time for new coach Lienen.

Sunday, Werder Bremen are away to VfL Bochum with Paul Stalteri expected to start. He will likely be on the right side with Schultz at left back as I believe Davala is still suspended. Bremen have not suffered a Bundesliga loss since mid-October when they were spanked 3-1 at home by the then red-hot VfB Stuttgart team (they were the first team to score on Hildebrand this season).

In the Oberliga Soutwest, Victor Oppong and 1.FC Saarruecken II are away to FK 03 Pirmasens on Sunday.

Saturday, look for Jeremy Shepherd with the Hertha BSC Berlin U19s as they host Hansa Rostock in the Junioren Bundesliga North/Northeast division.

Also on Sunday, Jamie Peters and Dylan Hughes are away with 1.FC Kaiserslautern as they face KSV Baunatal in the South/Southwest division of the U19 league.

Jason de Vos played 90 as Wigan could only draw scoreless to Sunderland in Div 0ne England. They are in a playoff spot but have a game in hand and could be overtaken by West Ham and perhaps another side later this weekend. With the Sunderland draw, West Brom are officially directly promoted to EPL after just a year down.

No Richard Hastings for Maastricht as they drew 1-1 to Emmen in Dutch 2nd division Friday night. He has seen little playing time lately. The team remains 2nd last but still has a shot at saving the category with a win or two until season's end.

Got a note from Daniel Fernandes at Paok that he has played some friendlies with the reserve side, mentioned 5 games without a goal and scoring himself (on a penalty). Don't know the level or type of competition he is facing. I remember Daniel commenting that even at Celta Vigo, training with the first team, he had been put in as a filler striker and had scored in scrimmages, something that bemused him. He also scored this winter in Lower Mainlaind club play.

I think Shepherd, Peters and Hughes are with the U-20 side in Turkey so its unlikely that will play for their club sides this weekend.

Oops. Forgot about that. Hopefully we'll see Shepherd there as he has been curiously absent from his U19 side for the last month or so.

Kenny Stamatopoulos Enköpings SK managed a 0-0 draw at home against Café Opera FC. From the match reports it seems like Kenny had a lot to do, but did it well.

Atiba and Helsingborgs IF will be on the road tomorrow, playing Halmstads BK, Atiba is in the starting 11.

Sita-Taty Matondo has an away match today against Gunnilse with the youth team. I'll get back on that if I find a report.

De Guzman played 90 as Hannover fell at home to Stuttgart 0-1, now they are really threatened with relegation as some lower table rivals win.

Ante Jazic played 90 as Rapid Vienna beat Kelag Kärnten 0-1 away. Rapid is now 8 points off the league lead with 5 games left for them (have a game in hand over the two leaders).

Tranmere win 2-1 (or so I've heard). Stuttgart beat Hannover 1-0, De Guzman plays the entire match and apparently was one of the better 96ers on the day.

Yes, Tranmere win 2-1, Hume plays entire match and scores first goal at 62'. :D

Good thing about Tranmere's mid-table position in Division 2 is that he will be available for Wales friendly, whereas De Vos may not.

Radz. got in 80 minutes vs Blackburn and by the BBC account a very active 80 minutes at that before being sub'd out for James McFadden. No goals for his efforts though, as Blackburn counter minutes later with a Jon Stead header to steal a precious 3 away points at Goodison.

Great result for Blackburn as Yank #1 Brad Friedel puts on a display and saves the day for the Rovers. Not so great a result for Everton.

Despite another impressive season of play by our wee man under sometimes chaotic circumstances at Everton, Radz. just can't seem to get the ball into the net.

So that's Radzinski playing 78 subbed out as Everton fall at home to Blackburn.

Norwich beat Watford away 1-2 with Brennan on the bench.

Derby County lost to Burnley but is still just above relegation with Peschisolido playing 79 m.

In Div 2 no Bent for Plymouth who ensured the title beating QPR 2-0, for whom Bircham played 69 minutes.

Tranmere as mentioned beat Barnsley 2-1, Hume not only scored the first but set up the 2nd. He was moved to centre striker 2nd half it seems, as the team is without striker Dadi, suspended for today and another fixture. Played 90.

Dunfield subbed on m. 80 for Bury in their scoreless draw with Bristol, Div. 3.

In Scotland Rhian Dodds got a start as other attacking mids at Kili are injured, and almost scored m. 22 on a hard shot. Kilmarnock beat Hibs 2-0 with him playing 90.

Morton lost away to Berwick with Bottiglieri starting, and continue to struggle after leading Div 2 all year, they are 2nd, 4 pts off the leader.

Saturday eve results, Daniel Imhof has scored a rare Swiss league goal, his team's first of the night, as St. Gallen came back to beat Thun 2-1 at home. With 5 games left they have pushed up the table and are now 8 points back of third place Servette, in a Uefa spot.

Fernando Aguiar has started for Benfica, up early on a Nuno Gomes goal vs. Estrela Amadora. They still have an outside chance of catching Sporting Lisbon for the 2nd spot, good for previous Champions rounds.

Fernando Aguiar was subbed out to a "great applause" in m. 81, says record.pt, as Benfica beat Estrela Amadora 3-1. That ties them with Sporting Lisbon, who last I looked were losing to Uniao Leiria. I think if Sporting loses Porto are automatically champions. Two league games are left after this weekend.

Oh, that Tranmere scoreline, I had it right but then just copied another's post, so the error extended. You are right, 2-0.

From the roversreaguard.com match report:

"Iain Hume did his thing on the hour with an overhead-scissor-bicycle-half-falling-over volley past the keeper."

Oh, naturaly.

Right footed or left? And was he wearing a jock strap?

Why do you say that?

A couple of reasons.Firstly,I'm assuming he is still nursing some kind of injury since he hasn't seen a lot of minutes(or the bench for that matter)recently with Plymouth. There aren't enough games for club and country for him to get match fit.

Secondly,Canada has enough depth at midfield that he might not be in Yallops short term plans.

I'd really like to see Bent in the lineup.Maybe someone can update us on Jasons'status.

Every time I watch DeRosario play, I get more and more excited about our prospects up front. He is on fire right now. Vision, pace, blistering shot. Another great effort tonight v. Colorado, even though he didn't put it past cannon...

And by the way, the final score was Colorado 1-0 over San Jose...didn't see the goal against Patty...

Interesting aside, Max Bretos (or was it Allen Hopkins, can never tell the difference) kept mentionning how good the MLS is doing for the Canadian National team. He even mentionned that Mark Cheung of Colorado was born in Toronto, so that technically there were 3 Canadians playing.

On the other forum LOSF pointed out that there is no (automatic) relegation from the Dutch second division. This is confirmed by RSSSF.

Big Kev starts up front at Tynecastle vs Celtic. Have to wait and see what he's got today. Sounds like Hearts have a bit of energy today. Not bad for a side which usualy starts slow.

Well, McKenna gets in 90 as Hearts draw Celtic 1-1. Lots of commentators praise for the man in a hard fought, bitter battle which saw our big lad getting some speciel attention from Bobo Balde. Quite the compliment I'd say but probably one Big Kev would happily do without. Had a good strike at goal and played nicely as a Hearts target man. Two draws vs Celtic in two matchs now for Levein's men.
