Strangly, his athletic trainer who believes he could be one of the top 10 best athletic goalies in europe is signed with Hampton & Richmond in the Ryman Premier League – what the hell is he doing there? If there is such a thing as diamond in the rough… I would imagine that the English style of football would be challenging to break into, as english mangers are too narrow minded they all think goalies have to be over 6'4". If they did their homework they would know the top goalies to this time have been around 6 - think Bartez (Monaco/Man U), Banks, Shilton, Canizares (Valencia), Casillas (Real Madrid), Cudicini (Chelsea), Given (Newcastle)… Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Canuck Oranje Posted April 18, 2004 Share Posted April 18, 2004 While my reply should not be considered agreement or disagreement with your views on English Managers, I suspect the part of it would have to do with the difficulty getting work permits for this type of player... The team wishing to hire would have to be prepared to go through the process. I don't know if the rules are applied in an equal manner across the UK; but, the Brazilian 18 year old phenom, Diego, could not get a permit to join Tottenham.
