Rocket Robin Posted March 5, 2004 Share Posted March 5, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LYNX ANNOUNCE TELEVISION SCHEDULE FOR 2004 March 4, 2004 (TORONTO, ON) – Lynx fans will once again be able to catch A-League games on Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Canada as the United Soccer Leagues announced today the 20-game television schedule for 2004. This year’s schedule includes one Lynx match when they face off against the Syracuse Salty Dogs on Friday, August 13 at 8pm live from Centennial Park Stadium in Etobicoke. The USL and Fox Sports World are in the third year of a five-year broadcast deal with Fox Sports World Canada set to air the full 20-game schedule. The telecasts will feature an abundance of Canadian flavour with 5 of the 13 regular season A-League matches featuring Canadian teams, including all-Canadian match ups featuring Edmonton at Calgary on Friday, June 25th at 11pm, Calgary at Vancouver on Friday, July 30th at 11:00pm and Vancouver at Montreal on Friday, August 6th at 8pm. Dick Howard, the veteran Canadian colour commentator is included in the color commentary team joining Kenn Tomasch, Peter Schaad and Steve Bell while the play-by-play includes Canadian Paul Dolan with Sean Wheelock and Dave Johnson. “We are very excited to unveil this season’s broadcast schedule,” says USL Chief Executive Officer Dave Askinas. “Our fans have grown accustomed to watching our Fox Sports Friday Night broadcasts on the most popular nationwide soccer channel, Fox Sports World. Our fans north of the border will also get to see their favourite teams in action as Fox Sports World Canada has picked up the entire A-League portion of the lineup. We are pleased to be able to showcase our newest franchises in Calgary, Edmonton and Puerto Rico. In short, the broadcasts are must-see event for every North American soccer fan.” The Toronto Lynx home matches will also be televised locally by Rogers Television in 2004 with the full schedule to be announced later this spring. For the Impact, beyond bothe FSWC games, there are talks for more RDS games than in 2003. Realistically, I'd expect to see 3 extra home games.
