argh1
Bayern v Real has to be the match of the day unless you're a hard core S.A or Asian fan . Two giants, winners of 3 of the last 4 CL . No favourites here , but the bookies like Real. I just don't know. But I will say c'mon Stuttgart, Lokomtiv , and Prague beat; Chelsea, Monaco, and Milan. Although I could live with Monaco. Time to be giant killers,a Celta win against Arsenal would also be sweet. As long as the team that wins the CL isn't from England, Italy or Spain, I'll be happy;)

Guest Ed
Here's a preview that might just cause some controversy: http://www.thefa.com/England/SeniorTeam/Postings/2004/02/Owen_Hargreaves_column.htm
jonovision
He has his own webpage (http://www.owenhargreaves.de/)? A little pretentious if you ask me. Not too sure what was controversial about the article, though.

Guest Ed
Minorsoccer has his own web page and you're bitchin' about a star in the Bundesliga who is also a media magnet in England??? Tough crowd.
amacpher
Yeah, the Owen bashing is getting tiresome. Brazil alone probably has about 30 guys who pulled an Owen! Let it go!!
jonovision
Reading the column, I found it hard to dislike him. At this point I don't care much either way. But putting up what is essentially your own fan site seems a bit pretentious (I don't mind using the word again). I'm not saying having a website is bad, but a lot of the content seemed like shameless self-promotion. As I said, I am actually starting to like the guy, and I certainly hope they knock the snot out of Real.
Canuck Oranje
Probably more than 30.. Only none of them were going to play for Brazil. However, I agree it is time to move on. quote:Originally posted by amacpher Yeah, the Owen bashing is getting tiresome. Brazil alone probably has about 30 guys who pulled an Owen! Let it go!! BC supporter
Setting aside the player in question, a pro athlete having their own website is hardly pretentious. It's pretty much expected now. Heck, I'm surprised when the neighborhood plumber doesn't have their own website.

JayWay
Being in Ottawa, I've terrific access to our country's legal system. As such, I've just returned from the Supreme Court of Canada where a judgement has been passed down on this very issue. The verdict: He's a ****. Bash on. Guest Ed
Anybody who understands German can listen live here.
jonovision
I don't understand German, but from the live commentary available from Uefa.com, Bayern seems to be carrying the play so far. And as much as I am not a big Bayern fan (the German teams I support are Hannover and Bremen, for obvious reasons), I have far more antipathy towards Real Madrid and their New York Yankees style lineup (I actually read an article from a European source that called the Yankees baseball's Real Madrid). I'd like to see Ballack score a goal in the 2nd half. He is a classy player.
Jarrek
I'm not sure why people are keen on calling him a whore. Sure the guy disappointed us, but calling him a whore is stretching it.
SeanKeay
nah, i heard he sells himself to ballack every night.. seems like a prime example of a whore and plus it works well with his real name... which we will never speak of again... cause if we do i think peewee herman will come out and go nuts
Guest Ed
The clowns calling Owen that name are probably first in line to complain that they cannot watch England vs France when Canada plays Belize. Double standards of course, reserved for Owen.
Guest Ed
Ah well. Scratch one off the list then. Good for you. Back to this thread, I wonder who Kahn will blame for this result?? Lehmann? BTW, off topic to the mods or whoever. How does my url posting above get changed to 'listen here live'. I'd like to use that sometimes.

I'd like to use that sometimes. I made the change. I do that (or sometimes just shrink the font size) whenever I see URLs that are so long that they run off the side of the screen (at 800x600 or higher), which forces readers to scroll left and right on every line in the whole thread. Here's how you do it, typing the bolded characters exactly and changing { to [ and } to ]: {url="your-URL"}your text that you want to appear as the link{/url}

Gordon
Given the pains he takes to explain that he is the only member of his family "actually born in Canada" and how it was always his dream to play for England in the Euro finals etc. etc. What do you say we just call him English and move on? Time to get over it boys. (and yes, I know he said it was his dream to play for Canada too, but for Christ sakes, you'd think he sold national secrets to the russians - and yes, I am dating myself)
