Chants for Belize match

Okay...

Here's one that can be used with any of our players with 3 syllables in their last name. It's mindless and could catch on easily.

To the Tune of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion":

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet De Guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz Man.

Or...

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Me neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Zes.

Or...

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Rad Ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin Ski.

You get the picture. It could just be repeated again and again after one of these guys scores or makes a nice play.

I like the pro-Canada chants more than the anti-whoever chants, but the Belize are so bad is pretty classic.

We're red

we're white

we're phequing dynamite

Canada Canada

Wasn't the Radzinski one originally:

rah-rah-Radzinski

Canada's greatest goal-maching

He puts the ball in the back of the goal

How do about Danke Schoen (the song from the parade in Ferris Bueller) after a goal:

Danke Schoen Peschy/humey/Stalteri

Danke Shoen

Nice simple and with a slightly German theme . . .

Another really simple one is the DeRo chant similar to the Keano chant you hear from ManU and Chelsea fans.

I like the Great Escape as well and Franky Yallop's barmy army with the drumming/clapping would sound decent.

cheers,

matthw

To the tune of Boney M's "Rasputin":

Allow me to quote Dr. Evil in replying...

"How about NO you crazy, Dutch, bastard?!!!!"

Hmmmm. As much as this may be getting out of hand, and Lord knows I'm not one to go overboard (?), Matthew is probably right. Got to get rolling on a signature song for the lads. Something that'll haunt their travels across this great land of ours.

Something altogether familiar to most Canuckheads with an easy to follow tempo and catchy chorus. At least then if you're not singing along you can keep the rythm with clapping.

****, it's going to have to be a Stompin' Tom tune then (Good ol' football game??). Maybe something early from The Tragically Hip. I don't know.

This is gonna take a good long think and a fresh box of crayons...

simple is the easiest/best...

example: ra-ra-radzinski, ra-ra-radzinski..

just imagine that, thousands of canadian fans chanting that, the entire pitch can hear it... like for example some of the best chants are the easiest to remember and you can actually understand what they're saying, like the old West Ham chant... "Paolo Diii Cannniooo" in the beat of that old Italian song....

Maybe we can sing Long Time Running by The Hip or Long Road by Sam Roberts in honour of the fact that this will be the MNT's first home game in 4 years.

I figure we'll need a Hip song, since we'll be in Kingston...I just think it should be one that everyone knows well, for the people at the match and the folks watching on the tube...

I'm sure Cheeta will come up with something!

Why not just chant, na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey

GOODBYE!

I'm sure it will be sung, but frankly we should strive for some form of North American originality. I doubt that I need to include that one in the songbook, since everyone and their uncle knows that one.

I don't see the burgeoning need to do a Hip song just because we are in Kingston - by that logic we should do a chant to the theme tune for Coach's Corner.

I also don't think we need to restrict ourselves to Canadian tunes in general, lest we end up spending a miserable day singing words to Celine Dion, Shania Twain or the Barenaked Ladies. If it sounds catchy, simple and natural and it fits let's use it, regardless of where it's from.

Also, not every chant has to be in the form of a song. "Marco! Reda!" in the form of the "Marco! Polo!" swimming pool shouting game would be sufficient.

All good points Gian-Luca. I don't think I ever suggested that the songs needed to be Canadian. If they are...bonus. Anything that is catchy will end up in the songbook.

We should do something to to tune of "Home For A Rest" by Spirit of the West.

Modified lyrics for the chorus could be something like

You'll have to excuse us, we're not at our best.

You've been gone fer four years, we've been pissed since you left.

These Euro friendlies will soon be our death.

We're so sick of the road, come home for a rest.

Fresh From Belize

Go Belize! Go Belize!

Let's make the canadians freeze

Show them some of our might

And watch them pee their pants in fright

I no longer hear them singing

And this is just the beginning

Could it be that the canadians are sore?

But what the heck just give them some more

The Canucks boasted that they would walk over us

Now they rush to catch the early bus

I hope they learned the lesson

That the humble giant is not mess'n

They trust Frank Yallop

But all he showed them was how to gallop

No More Guatemala, Honduras or Cost' Rica

Best thing they start preparing for South Africa

What a shame

But all the critics of this forum are to blame

Peace from Belize. Only time will tell, but don't count us out yet.

Big fan of this one, Tyler. Definitely going into the song book.

How about to the tune of that hey baby song

Heeeeeeey, hey baby, Hoo Haah, we wanna seeeeeEEEeee Humie score a goal

switch Humie with any other suitable name (Tomasz, DeRo, Brennen, Guzman, Pescho, Carlo, etc...)

England had a song with this but it was "we wanna see England score a goal"

I loved that England remake, with the play by play of Beckham hitting that free kick against Greece. Still get chills listening to that one.

How the hell do you pronounce Peschisolido anyway? I've always gone with Peshi-sol-LEE-doh (probably due to my first FIFA video game that had announcers), although he's sometimes pronounced Pesh-shee-SOL-idoh.

With the former pronounciation, it doesn't fit too badly into the "There's only one..."/"Guantanamera" tune. (except there's too many syllables to fit all the "there's only" words in :) )

PESCHISOLIDO!

ONLY ONE PESCHISOLIDO!

PESCHISOLEEEEEDOOOOOO!

ONLY ONE PESCHISOLIDOOOOO....

or replace the ONE with PAUL.

A common one around England, adapted for us:

(8 beats)

FRANKIE YALLOP'S RED AND WHITE ARMY! <clap> <clap> <clap> <clap>

FRANKIE YALLOP'S RED AND WHITE ARMY! <clap> <clap> <clap> <clap>

FRANKIE YALLOP'S RED AND WHITE ARMY! <clap> <clap> <clap> <clap>

FRANKIE YALLOP'S RED AND WHITE ARMY! <clap> <clap> <clap> <clap>

<repeat for half an hour>

You all know the only song ever sung in Canada (other than the ones sung by the usual 30 to 50 die-hards) is Go Canada Go. You might as well try writing under the song title "the greatest song that no will sing".

I love the sign that says "Canada welcomes British Honduras".Classic!!!

Go Canada Go!!!!!!!!!!
