Guest Jeffery S.
Full slate of games today and Sunday in Europe for Canucks. Everton with Radzinski away to Spurs this afternoon. Lars Hirschfeld has been called up for the game, probably bench. Div. 1 Sheffield Utd are home to Sunderland, Wigan hosts Brennan's Norwich. Div 2 QPR is away to Grimsby, while Wycombe with a new coach are home to Bent's Plymouth. Tranmere play away to Luton Monday the 6th. Bury in Div 3 is away to Torquay the 4th. In Germany Hannover hosts Schalke on Saturday, de Guzman set to start apparently on the back line, while W. Bremen greets Wolfsburg on Sunday. Regensberg, Nsaliwa's team, is away to Unio Berlin on Sunday. Rapid Vienna fights to hold onto the Austrian lead as they are home to Salzburg this afternoon. La Louvière is home to Mons Bergen today, we'll see if Kluka starts. Benfica with Aguiar is away to Moreirense this evening. In Scotland Hearts are home to Dundee in their fight to stay in third spot, while Hibs are away to Partick Thistle. Div 1 Falkirk is away to St. Mirren, we need Xausa to show this level is right for him. Bottiglieri and Morton fight to retain the league lead in Div. 2 home to Berwick. In Switzerland Imhof played 90 for Sankt Gallen in a 3-1 loss to Aarau on Thursday. They play last place Zurich Sunday. Norway and Sweden sides play Sunday. Guest Jeffery S.
Richard Hastings got a full match for hapless Maastrict MVV, who lost away 2-0 on Friday evening. He did not play in last week's match. But it doesn't seem to matter, as the team has two draws and 7 losses in nine league games, and are dead last. Guest Jeffery S.
In Germany Julian de Guzman took yellow cards in m. 54 and 67 and left his team with 10 men as they fell to Schalke 1-2 at home. Stats also show he made five fouls in total in the game. In EPL Tomasz Radzinski was subbed out for Everton shortly after Tottenham made it 3-0 early in the 2nd half. Sheffield Utd fell to Sunderland 0-1 with Pesch playing 90, seems like he had an active game, fouled a lot, went offside a lot, shot a few, to no avail. Wigan drew with Norwich Canuck-less the both, and continues to challenge Sheff at the top of Div 1. Marc Bircham played 90 for QPR who won on an extra time goal 0-1 at Grimsby. Bent played 90 for Plymouth but they could only draw scoreless with Wycombe. Terry Dunfield was sadly subbed off m. 35 for Bury, who fell anyways to Torquay. Ticker says it was tactical, some tactics that. Wonder if his injury was showing up again. In Scotland no McKenna for Hearts who drew late 2-2 with Dundee, while Hibs scored late to win it over Partick without Fenwick. In Austria Bundesliga Rapid Vienna stays on top of the league with a win over Salzburg on a goal m. 90, Ante Jazic had been subbed off in m. 84 and took a yellow card. Press reports I've seen laud the new coach and the fact that a lot of young players are doing the job for Rapid, who hasn't won a league in a few years. jonovision
That is a bit strange about Kevin. Wasn't he a starter in the Bundesliga for Cottbus before he made the move to Hearts? Now he is not even playing in Scotland.

Also that Kluka played beside the American player Onyewu, who I think could be in their Olympic pool. Speaking of Benfica, Aguiar is on the bench for the Benfica away match to Moreirense, early first half. They seem to be looking for more goals as Simao and Geovanni are now in the midfield. Petit is playing defensive mid instead of Fernando.

Was a surprise starter in the season opener when Cottbus debuted in the Bundesliga 1 in August 2000 and was singled out by the coach for not being up to standards as sweeper. Spent the rest of his time at Cottbus on the bench and trying desperately to get out of there.
Guest Jeffery S.
Fernando Aguiar was subbed on for the final few minutes and watched the last goal from on the pitch as Benfica beat Moreirense away 1-4 in Portugal action. The locals ended the game with nine men on the field. Next up for the "encarnados" is La Louvière, whose games are getting press in Portugal in anticipation of the match in Lisbon next week. domdick
Well done Birch! Listened to the game on the radio. He made some really crucial tackles in the second half when Grimsby had us under severe pressure. Went a bit mental when we scored! The only way is up. NHL starts Wednesday, so go Leafs go! Crazy_Yank
quote:Originally posted by Jarrek Everton are bottom of the premiership this year, does anyone think that it could have been different if they signed MLS striker McBride? I think so. Last season McBride and Radzinski were Everton's best forward tandem. Rooney playing as an attacking mid or withdrawn forward complimented them very well. Outside of Radzinski Everton's strikers are mostly journeymen and lack true class.
Guest Jeffery S.
Action on Sunday, the 5th. In Bundesliga 2 Tam Nsaliwa started for Regensberg, drew away to Union Berlin 2-2. In Sweden Kenny Stamatopolous and Enkoping are behind second half to Malmo 0-1, while Chris Pozniak is playing for Orebro 1-1 2nd half vs. Orgryte. Atiba Hutchinson is not dressed for Östers, perhaps disciplinary or an injury, don't know, any case they are losing already 4-0 to Elfsborg in the first half. Games on the go this afternoon. In Norway: Odd Grenland is home to Reda's Sogndal, who are winning 0-3 at the half with Reda playing (tomorrow Harmse's Tromso is away to Lyn). In the Div 1 second tier Kojic's Haugesund plays Hodd at home (up 1-0 at the half) and Moss is home to Start Kristiansand, scoreless at the half. Imhof plays with St. Gallen vs. Zurich, just started scoreless.

It might make a small difference, he'd be a significant upgrade to the strikeforce. However, the big problem with Everton is that their midfield is pretty much awful. All defensive, clogger midfielders. They need a couple more skillful midfielders in there, then again, without the defensive midfielders, their defence gets exposed . I think the team just played over their heads last year, and they are just coming back down to earth
James
Everton's biggest problem is in the back and in the midfield. They have a ton of guys up front but it's everyplace else where they are hurting. McBride wouln't have made much of a difference. He had a nice run but I'm not sure he's be much better than anything that they have right now. Everton need a midfield and some fullbacks. They should be challenging for UEFA. Guest Jeffery S.
Paul Stalteri scored for Bremen m. 41 just after Wolfsburg got a goal to make it 2-1, it was 3-1 at the half and ended 5-3. Bremen takes the Bundesliga leadership along with Leverkusen, who also won (win put them over Stuttgart with 21 for and 8 goals against, to Stuttgart's record 0 goal start to the league.). Daniel Imhof played 90 as St. Gallen beat Zurich 2-1 and push up to 5th in the table in Switzerland. Full reports on the Canucks in Scandinavia from what was posted by W. Fury on the other board, plus some of my stuff: Reda played 90 for Sogndal who let Odd tie in the last minute after being up 0-3, a win would have put them 4 points off a UEFA spot as all rivals failed, as is they are 6 off. In Norway Moss scored late for a 2-1 win, without Friend who missed the match due to an injury time Red Card last match. Bernier played the full match. This puts Moss 6 pts above the relegation line, so they should be breathing easier. No sign of Kojic in Haugesund's 1-1 draw with Hodd. In the Swedish Premier, Oster lost 4-0 to Elfsborg, all early 1st half goals. Stamatopolous played for last place Enkoping, and lost 1-0 to Malmo. Pozniak played the full match for Orebro in a 2-1 defeat to Orgryte. The team had 10 men from m. 30, scored to go ahead anyways, but eventually succumbed. Especially the MF. Thats what I retained from the one Everton game That I caught this here on RSN. I saw no one in that MF who showed any creativity. Gravesson (sp), whom I recalled playing in the middle in MF, looked very ordinary. He didn't show me the kind of stuff that I would expect from an attacking MF'er that would would expect on a team that wants to contend

He's still under contract with Metz. La Louvière has taken him on loan for the duration of this season. Due to outstanding substitue performances he has forced his way into the starting lineup. He already has 2 MOTM performances to his credit. One of them came in a league match. The other in a UEFA Cup match against Benefica. I would not be suprised to see Onyewu crack Metz's starting 11 next season. He's got an excellent chance to play a large part in the olympics.
