Bxl Boy
Other scenarios (excuse me, but in french, I'm sure someone will translate soon) : En prenant pour acquis que Calgary va perdre ses deux derniers matches (à Toronto et Montréal), voilà la situation en Coupe des Voyageurs : 1. Montréal 12 pts (5m.) 2. Toronto 12 (5) 3. Vancouver 6 (4) 4.
DarnCherry
It's a shame that the Montreal English radio station didn't think this game was worthy of covering. I guess it's more exciting to cover Syracuse games. DJT
Final: Montreal 1 Vancouver 1 MON Zé Roberto 15' VAN Nick Dasovic 77' Sounded like Montreal came very close a few times at the end of extra time. Well, Vancouver is eliminated from the Voyageurs Cup. But since Montreal didn't win, the Cup can't be clinched on Friday. So the trophy presentation is going to be tricky since we won't know who wins it until the last day of the season.

DJT
Montreal Impact match report: NICK DASOVIC FORCES IMPACT INTO 1-1 TIE MONTREAL, August 6, 2003 — In a match-up between the top team in the Eastern Conference and the front-runner in the West, the Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps settled for a 1-1 draw, Wednesday, in front of 5,546 spectators at Claude Robillard Stadium. It was the ninth time in 10 home games this season the Montreal squad played in front of over 5,000 fans. "A tie is always disappointing for us, whether we play at home or on the road," said Impact head coach Bob Lilley. "But Vancouver played well, they worked hard for their goal, so in a way you can say that it was a fair result." Zé Roberto (photo) scored his sixth goal of the season, his sixth on a header, when he deflected a free kick taken by Martin Nash at the 15th minute of play. It was the fifth time this season these two players combined on a Montreal goal. "Zé always works hard to get free, he’s able to find the right moment to dart into an open space," said Nash, who reached the 10,000-minutes played mark in the A-League during the match-up. "It’s too bad though, we wanted the three points because we haven’t sealed up a playoff spot yet." Nick Dasovic, a former Impact player, tied it up at the 78th for the Whitecaps. He slid in to redirect a centering pass by Jason Jordan and chipped the ball under the crossbar. Tempers flared at the 6th minute of overtime, when players from both teams gathered near Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton’s goal. Two players were ejected: Vancouver’s Alfredo Valente and Montreal defender Gabriel Gervais. Impact captain Mauro Biello got the best scoring chance in overtime. At the 105th minute he had Mike Franks sprawled in front of him, but he couldn’t find the handle and the Caps goalkeeper extended his arm to stop the ball with his hand. "We kept battling, even after their goal," said Lilley. "I saw a lot of positive signs, the only thing that was missing was a goal." With the tie, the Impact increased its lead on top of the Northeast Division to two points ahead of the Rochester Rhinos. Both teams have played 23 games. Montreal also remains first in overall A-League standings, one point in front of the Whitecaps, who are first in the Western Conference. The Impact was unable to stop the Whitecaps from extending their undefeated streak to 10 games (7-0-3). Vancouver hasn’t lost since July 3. Montreal is undefeated in its last three A-League match-ups (2-0-1). The game also counted in Voyageurs Cup standings and Montreal remains in first place, one point ahead of the Toronto Lynx. The Impact will play its last away game of the regular season this Saturday in Syracuse against the Salty Dogs (7:30 pm, CJAD).
