FOREST WAIT ON BRENNAN

Jim Brennan could be on his way out of the City Ground.

The out-of-contract left-back has yet to sign a new deal and has been in negotiations with a number of other clubs over a possible move. Brennan was one of the unsung heroes of Nottingham Forest's season and earned rave reviews alongside fellow full-back Mathieu Louis-Jean.

And those performances have attracted the attentions of a number of other Division One clubs - some of whom may be in a position to offer him more money.

Brennan's agent Mark Curtis confirmed that the player has not signed a new deal.

"We're still talking to Forest but we have also spoken to a number of other clubs as well," he said.

Curtis refused to reveal the clubs involved but I understand that West Brom are among those interested in the 26-year-old Canadian international.

Brennan made 45 League and Cup appearances for the Reds last season.

His probing runs down the left, allied with his sound defence, made him one of the linchpins of manager Paul Hart's team.

And it was a far cry from the end of the previous season during which he had spent time on loan at Huddersfield.

Brennan was signed by David Platt for £1.25million from Bristol City in October 1999.

I understand that his new City Ground contract offer is considerably less than his previous deal as Forest seek to cut the wage bill through the use of a salary cap.

With Riccardo Scimeca having turned down Forest's contract offer and Louis-Jean still to put pen to paper, Forest will be keen to tie up at least one signature.

Forest refuse to comment on players' contracts.
