Toronto mayor Rob Ford, the man who one famouslly said "This is a sucker stadium, not a soccer stadium. We are going to lose our shirts," during the debate to approve the building of BMO Field doesn't accept no for an answer apparently.
Even though the debate has been opened and closed multiple times already, Ford was once again on record this week talking about the possibility of re-fitting BMO Field to accomidate CFL football.
“I think (the Argos) need a stadium. We have Downsview (Park) … Or, we retrofit BMO Field, and make it like McGill Stadium in Montreal, a 25,000-seat stadium … Obviously the partners have to work together." - credit The Toronto Sun's Kurtis Larson for transcribing that quote from an interview with Inside the CFL . His take here.
Doing that would require the south end to be moved back about 10-yards, would cost almost as much to do than it did to build the whole stadium, and might mean having to put FieldTurf back in.
It might also drive thousands of TFC fans away from the team if MLSE were to ever agree to the absurd idea.
