  • No WPS in 2012

Several Canadian female internationals – including Christine Sinclair -- will be looking for new club teams after WPS suspended operations today.

The league says the move is temporary and it will be back in 2013. However, based on the history of professional women’s soccer, a fan can feel justified today for taking a believe it when they see it approach.

The league managed to get D1 sanctioning earlier this month despite only having five teams (the minimum required by the USSF is eight). However, ongoing legal troubles with disgraced former owner Dan Borislow forced the league’s hand.
