    • This sounds a little strange but it seems like Vancouver fc have stock piled too many players. You'd think Tahid and Cameron might be gone in the summer
    • I don't think "the distance between venues" is an issue for the CSA here.
    • Might sound harsh. I know he's a fan favorite. Maritimer, another player hard done by by TFC etc etc. He's a fun player, overachiever.. I like the guy don't get me wrong. I just think we have other young players with more upside. Shaffelburg is solid against these Gold Cup level Concacaf teams but against bigger countries I think he's out of his depth. Sorry folks
    • Kinda weird that he would even need to trial
    • Also see Liam Mackenzie's been getting minutes, goalkeeper Trystan Read on the bench a few times. Not familiar with Trystan, can anyone provide some background?
    • I should have been a bit more detailed.  In general I meant that we need to: 1) Invite some of these dual nationals to camps to get a better connection with our other players and program.  This isn’t going to work every time as I’m sure for every LDF, we’re going to also have our Koleosho’s.  Koleosho might end up somewhere else but normally the odds are more likely he commits to Canada after attending camps.  Unfortunately, the camps he attended were probably not the greatest experience for him i’m sure. 2) Cap them in friendlies and make the decision to switch nationalities that much more difficult.  Right now we have dual nationals leaving their options open because they don’t have to make a one-time switch. 3) Lastly, if they’re good enough or the games plays out the way we want, cap tie players in the official competition.  Early Nations League games and Gold Cup games are definitely opportunities to expand our player pool.  I mean, look at how we were able to temporarily cap tie LDF in a must win game.  It looked like Biello was planning on putting him in up 1-0.  Not suggesting we do that all the time but we can find the right opportunities.     And forget “brotherhood” in the sense were used to.  Create a brotherhood where new players can be incorporated into the program every international break if warranted.  If players 12-23 aren’t playing club or aren’t playing well such as Hoilett, Kaye, etc. bring the players that deserve it at that time.  I will give Biello credit for doing this.  I know that Bair was capped years ago at a Camp Poutine but let’s just say he wasn’t.  Even though he didn’t feature on Saturday.  It sure looked like he enjoyed being a part of the team.  If he wasn’t capped, I’m sure he would still hesitate jumping ship to another country after spending a good week with our players and knowing that he’s close to cracking our lineup and program and that the opportunity is close. Edit: and I hadn’t seen @dyslexic nampost above on this page before writing my story of a response.  But a lot of the same context presented slightly differently.
    • Harsh analysis of Shaffelburg looking lost and chasing shadows. I do agree with the general point though.
    • With this in mind, I wonder if you make room for Liam Fraser on the roster. Piette is my guy, but if his lack of speed becomes a factor, Fraser does really play well for Canada. Or maybe you try Bombito out there with Cornelius in a back 5.
