In the infamous words of Whitesnake, Here We Go Again.

Toronto FC is planning a friendly. Well, "Toronto FC is planning a friendly?" according to the official Website. Because, lord knows, the official Toronto FC website needs that question mark.

This shouldn't be a shock to anyone paying attention to either MLSE or new top dog Tim Leiweke. What was surprising is that MLSE took a year off the friendly fix in 2011, not that they are back at it now.

Leiweke is a full on addict in this regard. Just wait until TFC had a player to barnstorm with (see: Beckham, David -- with LA Galaxy for examples).

You may have heard that Canadian coach Frank Yallop is out of a job. It came as a bit of a surprise. Yes, the Earthquakes were struggling a bit, but he is less than a year off winning MLS' Manager of the year award, along with the Supporter's Shield. Yallop was a ...

No laughing matter: MLS' goal of becoming one of the best leagues in the world by 2022

The statement almost begs for a laugh track.

Don Garber bursts through the door and into the upscale Brooklyn loft where an English man, Spanish woman and German couple are being entertained by an old Italian man.

Puzzled, they look at the over eager Garber – his sawker jersey neatly pressed and tucked into his skinny fit American Eagle jeans.

What do you want, the old man says to Garber.

Garber pauses, looks around and thrusts his chest out.

“One day,” he says excitedly, “One day I’m going to make it! I’m going be sitting with you right here in this loft! Just you wait and see!”

With that Garber skips out, tripping through the door, before going downstairs to set up a lemonade stand on the corner.

      (Canned laughter)

Or, Garber walks up to a microphone and says “MLS’ stated goal of being one of the best leagues in the world by 2022.”

      (Real laughter)

As consolation prizes go, it’s really not all that bad.

Lost in the fall-out to Shush-Gate on Sunday was the CSA’s announcement of the four cities that will play host to the 2014 FIFA u-20 women’s tournament. The event acts as a trial event for the big show in 2015, but is also the biggest girls youth tournament in the world.

The for cities that will be a part of the festival are Edmonton, Montréal, Moncton and…

It’s been a long time since TFC blew the lead on Saturday. Four days, in fact.

You must have been some drunk, Duane, my trolls are likely saying. You’re just sober now?

I didn’t have a drop to drink Saturday. No, I haven’t given up the beer (or the gin, or the…I’ve said too much). It’s just that The Reds make me feel bad enough without having to add a hangover to my Sunday morning.

So, the double entendre that is this column’s name is lacking in accuracy this week. It’s just been lacking the last few.

      Why?

Pointing out how bad Toronto FC has been seems even more pointless than beating that notoriously dead horse. It’s more like digging a long dead horse up, beating it more, then setting it on fire.

      Everyone understands. TFC is terrible.

Except sometimes it seems like fans have put up a mental block that doesn’t allow them to see how stunningly terrible they’ve been. Let’s put it bluntly, TFC is, by far, the worst team in MLS history. It isn’t all that close.

Yet, despite the fact that there is no evidence that MLS teams require long-term rebuilding plans, Toronto fans are being asked to put up with another horrendously bad year in 2013.

What do we mean that there is no evidence that teams must build over a long period?

      I’ll give you three numbers: 18, 11 and 4

Since 2007, 18 times a team has improved by more than 10 points in one season.

11 have jumped more than 15 points.

And 4 have improved by 20 or more.

There are far more examples in MLS of a team making a large jump in one year than there are of teams that have made gradual improvements over several years.

There was literally no reason for TFC fans to be asked to give up 2013 before it started. None. Zero.

Unless you believe that there is something in the Toronto water that prevents TFC from doing what 13 of the 19 MLS teams have done at least one over the last 6 years that is – improve by at least 10 points.

Then again, maybe there is something in the water. Below the jump, a look at the all-time MLS standings since TFC came into the league.

Here at CSN we don't normally report transfer rumours that we have not independently verified. There is simply too much noise out there to make it worth our time.

We'll make an exception today, due to the absurdity of the rumour and to examine it on a deeper level.

      Rachel Quon makes me uncomfortable.

I’m sure she’s a wonderful young woman, smart and athletic. I’m also fairly certain that she’s sincere in her desire to give the Canadian national team the old college try.

I have nothing against Quon personally. I barely knew who she was a week ago, actually.

I did know one thing, however.

      Rachel Quon is American.

She was born in the United States, grew up in the United States and went to college in the United States. She even represented the United States internationally as a member of the U-20 (and below) youth teams.

This young woman is the walking, talking and kicking personification of apple pie.

Well, except she’s now gone all maple syrup.
