    • Former, current TFC players make opprobrious comments about Earl Cochrane on social media

Earlier tonight a photograph of Earl Cochrane surfaced with the words "I've ruined people's lives to save mine..hehe" written on it. It was posted to the Instagram account of Julian deGuzman. It was posted several weeks ago.

Several former and current TFC players made comment. Below the jump a list of the players and comments.

Dicoy Williams: "True Words lol lol you are for getting someone else the poppet."

Doniel Henry (four emoticons indicating that he's laughing so hard he's crying)

      Keith Makubuya: "Fuck this nigga"

Kyle Porter (DC United) : LMAO

Oscar Cordon: "Punk ass bitch lol"

      Junior Burgess: Lol

Eric Avila: Hahahahaha Wait...I know him (emoticons indicating that he's laughing so hard he's crying).

CSN reached out to the club for comment. The club indicated that they would not be commenting.

Screen captures of the Instagram photo and comments are below.

Dont think its right but im not surprised and can understand why they would act in that manner.
As someone else said ideally our current FO is repairing what little positive image we had before.

Interesting that some of those comments are coming from players that have nothing to do with TFC (Kyle Porter, Mike Klukowski, etc.). That's quite a reputation Cochrane has developed for himself to be attached by not just former TFC players.
That's an absurd assumption. The word describes what they were doing. It doesn't judge it, I've offered No opinion in the article and YOUR bias is showing by the fact that you seem to need to find an agenda on my part.

Are you honestly going to say you aren't trying to defend Cochrane here?

Do you believe after all that has happened over the years that Cochrane should even have a job with TFC?

It would be nice to see someone in the media have the balls to call Cochrane out for the awful job he has done.

This guy has been a problem for years. He has done whatever he can to save his ass.

Only the idiots would want to even consider protecting this guy. It's about time the players are speaking out. Earl Cockring should be publicly fired by the fans on opening day and repeatidly kicked out the door.

They got rid of everyone except this asshole. Stop defending these people. TFC are far far far from being somewhat fixed...

For the love of God, I have no opinion on Cochrane one way or another, because I don't know what he's done or not done. Nor have I seen anywhere from the players here, or any of the lynch-Cochrane brigade any allegation of anything he has done. Maybe he's the anti-christ that has ruined the team for years, on the other hand maybe he has been made to look bad by carrying out the conflicting orders of the various managers at the team whilst dealing with duplicitous agents and a make-it-up-as-you-go-along league.

I feel like it's more the latter, as I don't think he's actually had enough power to do any serious damage to the club or players on his own.

so who made the nathan sturgis trade...tom anselmi? funny how fans seem to know more about earl's dealings than someone who supposively reports on the team.

There a slew of bad dealings involving Cochrane. Promising contracts to players (Ent, Ornoch, Sidra), the DeRo fiasco, the Plata fiasco all come to mind.

Does anyone complaining about the word "opprobrious" even know what it means?

I also find it pretty humuorous the people complaining about unnamed sources that leave comments as "Unregistered".... you kinda kill your own argument there.

theres no question he has had a part in a lot of the bad dealings and player mis management of the past. how deeply involved is anyones guess. as many posters have pointed out..the FO was a mess for far too long and did much damage in many ways-club reputation, player careers, poor salary decisions, and signings. the list of bad decisions goes on...
maybe the positive is we finally appear to have a guy running things who is in charge and appears competent and has a plan. And the same w/ the benchboss . time will tell but i think we will finally see an era of professionalism come back to tfc. how long will EC be around going forward is anyones guess-but they need to make a break from the past and put this guy somewhere else , or at the very least, once and for all keep the FO as far away from the team as possible.....jmo

Opprobrious: expressing scorn, disgrace, or contempt

Can someone explain to me how that word isn't appropriate here? It seems descriptive to me.

Does it make their actions any worse just because they are not deep thinkers about the public nature of remarks online?

Put me down for a "huh" and "I guess I don't really care".
I agree with you to a point, but there's been enough "scandals" surrounding things athletes post and say on social media for these guys to know better. Cordon may be just a kid, but he's got to realize that referring to his former boss as a 'punk ass bitch' on the internet is something he might be held accountable for. Also, the fact so many players appear to be saying negative things about the man makes this newsworthy in my opinion.
