      The agent for Joao Plata has tweeted that Plata is "very close" to transferring to Salt Lake City.



      The translation reads: JoaoPlata10 very close to Real Salt Lake, now it is confirmed.

      There is no information about what SLC is giving up to Toronto to obtain his rights but what is clear is that this would not be a loan deal, as is being suggested by Futbol Ecuador. For the time being, Toronto is denying the move.

      More as it develops.

        To be fair, Toronto doesn't usually know who Plata plays for.

        I liked him but I think he was overrated.

        I am sad to see him go. Was exciting to watch if not always effective. His ability to create goals to me was worth the trade off of him running into defenders the other 80% of the time. Better than uninspired non-threatening passes that led to nothing by the other options at his position.

        Anyone that could be considered a little chippy usually gets overrated in Toronto, it doesn't matter which sport.

        He was clutch vs Dallas. That game alone should be reason to keep him. MLSE realized he was succeeding and becoming a fan favorite and got rid of him. He was good, but not good enough to do it all by himself. Put another 2 forwards up front with him and he could do some damage. He put the ball in the net....that is what this team needs....goal scorers.

        Here's to a 4 win season.....again....

        If TFC gets a supplementary draft pick for him they'll be lucky

        good riddance to a distasteful little midget. Totally overrated for a handful of very good goals, which should be outweighed by 100s of times he lost possession.

        He was a young player that had more upsides that went under-utilized. Whether he would turn into a decent player or not is not really obvious however, but I don't think playing in Toronto with Mariner running around behind the scenes helped him develop his career. He obviously lost a work ethic from the first to the second year.

        Best of luck to Plata... whatever happens.

        Sure he's small and got bullied off the ball too often trying to take on defenders in MLS games, but has TFC got anyone that can beat a defender 1-on-1? I thought he was most effective on his runs without the ball finding open space and stretching out defenses. When you're the only teammate moving to get open (and the only guy who can control a pass)- you're going to get the ball a lot, which Plata did.... unfortunately maybe it was forced in to him too often in tight space. In any case, I liked his energy and he'd sure be missed in the Champions League..... should Toronto sneak in there again.

        Is he a world-beater? No. Does he bring something to the table? Yes. Does he represent good value for his salary??? I'm not sure, but that's all that matters.

        he still is all of those things, he's only 22 or 23, if he was coming out of college his development would be considered leaps and bounds ahead of most.

        He has one more MLS goal for Toronto than Andrew Weideman in 11 more apperences.

        Clearly worth the energy most clueless TFC fans put on him.

        He's little and (appears to) try hard though, which Toronto fans have always valued over actual talent.
