• Daniel Squizzato

As a kid, Squizz spent a lot of time playing soccer, writing and getting overly excited about frivolous things. Not much has changed: he still plays (badly), he still writes (having been published in outlets such as Maclean's and The Globe & Mail) and still has plenty of irrational passion (just wait until the next time the men's national team plays against Honduras).

    • Grant Surridge

Grant has no soccer playing career to speak of, and probably hasn't been following Canadian soccer as long as you have, but he does spend vast amounts of time reading about soccer online. A proud, self-loathing ex-Winnipeger, Grant also supports Chelsea FC. He writes about the Canadian mens' national team, as well as Canada's rivals in Central America and the Caribbean.
    • Introducing... Checking In With CanWNT

It's that time of year again. Minds turn to social planning and gift-giving, with a noticeable lull befalling most workplaces. But don't worry -- here at CSN, we've got you covered. As the year draws to a close, it's the perfect time to look back at the true shining light of 2012 in Canadian soccer: The performance of the women's national team at the Olympic Games.

So we'll be checking in with some members of the CanWNT to get their thoughts, memories and stories about the year that was (with some looks at the future for good measure). It's a series of candid Q&A's that will take us from the Olympic qualifying tournament in January all the way to the final training camp in December -- with, of course, plenty of London 2012 talk in between.

Keep your eyes on Canadian Soccer News over the next couple of weeks as some of our Olympic medalists take you back through 2012, in their own words.

        People will complain about everything.

Thanks for doing these Squizz. CanWNT owes you a debt of gratitude. You were giving them real coverage before they got all famous

Thanks. I'm already preparing myself for the "why didn't you talk to so-and-so?" and "why didn't you ask such-and-such" complaints. It's all part of the game. But it's nice to get some appreciation now and then.

@mowe: It's called a teaser, man! Would moviemakers just give you the whole movie in a trailer? Actually, these days they usually do... OK, bad example, but you know what I mean!

It's the only way to survive as a fan of a Canadian soccer. Or a writer. Or, worst of all, a Canadian soccer writer.
