    • Patrice Bernier out of Gold Cup

      Canadien midfielder Patrice Bernier will definiltely miss the Gold Cup after suffering a leg break in a Superliga match against FC Copenhagen.


      Bernier was substituted only 18 minutes into the game after feeling pain in his left leg. After verification, it was revealed that he suffered a fracture in his fibula.

      This is the second time in as many years that he has suffered a season-ending blow. Last season, he damaged his knee after a severe tackle from Jonas Troest.

      He will now have to watch the Gold Cup from his TV set.

      Get well soon Patrice.

      Hmm... so now, who'll replace him?

        We're slightly blessed in midfield for Canada are we not? Between Simpson, Hutchinson and De Guzman we're still looking alright! Wikipedia lists him as a central midfielder, so I think Dunfield being brought back into the fold would be a great deputy.

        Guess that means he won't be getting to Montreal this year? His contract finishes soon and I was hoping the Impact could sign him a bit in advance for 2012!

        I remember you guys calling out to Patrice that you wanted him on the Impact roster in the last match vs. Honduras. He would be a stellar MLS midfielder no doubt.

        On a slightly related note, where in MLS would FC Copenhagen fall these days? I mean, they've played Champions League football for two seasons now, but they're from a league that no one really knows how to compare to MLS. The crap sides in Denmark are just that - shite. The good sides like FCC are vastly superior to the lower sides, but how would an MLS side fare against them?
